Wake-On-LAN: Anybody Got It Working?
Seems like WOL is the only game in town for remote recovery from a power failure ==> graceful shutdown in response to UPS.
I'm doing something wrong, but don't know what.
Using Fusion's "FUSION WOL" utility, but no joy.

- demusss1Aspirantive just started to use the wake on lan on my ultra 4+ and found it wasnt waking up after being shutdown for the night. firmware is 4.2.17
After reading your post i did a couple of quick tests
after 5 & 10 mins of power off it woke up ok. after a 20min power off it didn't
I'm also using my android phone and waking up over the internet.
have u spoken to netgear about this? - kamelot72AspirantHi Demuss,
happy that I am not the only one with the pb...
I did not spoke to Netgear but sent a pm to chirpa. On another post for the ultra 6 I understood that a bios upgrade (not firmware upgrade) could fix some wol pbs. My bios version is: 05/19/2010 ReadyNAS-NVX-V2 V1.8. Also want to mention that my pc behind the modem and switch (like the NAS) had not wol issues at all. - martinoelgeAspirantHi Guys,
a few days ago i got my new android smartphone and want to use WoL on my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus with Radiator 4.2.19 to start the NAS outoff bed.
As decribet in this thread, nothing realy good things happen...
Then I remembered the same WoL Problem on my Debian 4 driven VDR.
The Solution was quit simple, so there is a German Wiki where to read: http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Debian_-_WAKE_ON_LAN
As quike simple as short: (you have to use an SSH-Login to edit the things)
In /etc/init.d/halt replace NETDOWN=yes to NETDOWN=no
That does the job for me...
PS: On Android i use the app WoL, Wake on Lan Wan, ver.3.9.0
I have to use the Option "send as broadcast" to work properly.
Martin - kal001AspirantI finally managed to put to work Wol on my Ultra 2.
I have a problem similar to the one described on this post: Wol works ok on lan, and on wan. But after a few minutes with the Readynas shutted down, it stops working on Wan.
I found out that the problem is not with the Readynas Firmare os Bios, or... but with the Router.
I realized that the problem was with my router.
It sets up a Dynamic ARP route to the Ultra 2, that I beleive the router does some house cleaning, and cleans 20 minutes after not finding the Router online.
You have to setup a static route pointing to the Ultra 2.
In my case, with a Thomson TG784n router it was easy.
You can find the answer here: http://beusergroup.co.uk/technotes/index.php?title=Remote_WOL_wake-on-lan_configration
It probably works with other routers, with some modifications.
