Simply put HomeKit RBK853 AX6000 wifi 6

Hello NG. I think it would proove wise and useful if you did your uttermost best to support HomeKit at least for your existing wifi 6 mesh systems, including those built around rbr850. As many other manufacturers with less experience than you release firmwares for their existing mesh kits and Apple is registering more competing products offering HomeKit it would be, as said, wise and about time to offer that support to your customers so that in the future they don't have to rethink again their options regarding flexibility and compatibility of your range. • I agree.

It would be good if Netgear decides to support the Apple Homekit router. When this function is supported by the router, its allows the users to define Web access restruction for homekit accessories using the Apple Home application.
(see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210544 web page for more details)

As we can probably do similar thinks using the router configuration (in a more complex way for standard users), it would not be very hard for Netgear to add this function. Eero routers (from Amazon) aleardy supports this function and Linksys made an annoncement they will support this function too for their Mesh routers.

For non "Apple homekit" users, it does not changes anythinks. It's just an additional software function.

Personally, I do not need to have this function supports now but if there is not offcial annoncement of such support before the begining of next year, I will purchase a Linksys Velop Wifi 6 Mesh router to replace mu current Netgear router.

With more and more smart home, I think this function will be requested by more and more users. There is still a lot of such request on the community web site

    Waiting for information.

Thankyou for your answer. I m not that sure that VELOP linksys wifi 6 mesh will be able to support HomeKit, as I owned them before, complained about their caractérial  instability compared to orbi wifi 6 mesh I m using now and was told that HomeKit  support would be for the lower range product offering doubleband. So I returned the velops who did’nt  offer specific and privileged wireless backbone between the stations for the orbi and I can see everyday the difference. And also the velops have less settings available to tweek them what needs to be done at least weekly as in my experience 3 velops are to much to handle for the linksys.. Arnaud

  • Thanks

I was on The Linksys web site Homekit router function will be support for tri-band routers (see https://www.linksys.com/us/homekit-routers/) and I also saw on their community site it will also include new Mesh Wifi 6 routers.

In parallel, I know there were a lot of instability for these mesh router (even if the situation seems to be better now) and I agree when you said Netgear routers have more settings functions. I always have Netgear router up to know and that's why I'm disapointed to not have any Netgear official announcement for a future support of this function.

Hope Netgear will make an official announcement for Apple Homekit router support soon

Thankyou for your input but if you decide to move ahead check that the velop wifi 6 are really supported as mine for exemple three mx5300 are not... they seem to play with people using the triband notion...  better check as it is my understanding that still at this moment none of the wifi6 mesh velops systems available to me are supported. Ps after checking still no wireless backbone between the velops and believe me that is a key feature to have!! Arnaud

  • This is one of several threads asking for this. Unfortunately, netgear continues to ignore us.
