WDNAP360 IP Setup
I need to put a Wireless credit card machine on the network, and have a WDNAP360. The network is configured for DHCP so the AP is getting an IP address for the device.
What I need to do is assign a static IP for the credit card machine. Is there a way I can make the AP simply pass traffic through to the network without issuing its own IP addresses, so that the AP itself has a fixed IP address on the network and the device attached to it has another fixed IP address in my regular network range?
Hi timgowen,
As I have understood your concern, you want to set a fixed or static IP address on the WNDAP360 and on the credit card machine, am I right? If ever I'm right, kindly follow these steps:
a. Login to the web-GUI of the WNDAP360. (I believe you know the IP address of the WNDAP360 since you mentioned that its getting an IP address)
b. Go to Configuration > IP > IP Settings.
c. Select Disable on the DHCP Client.
d. On the IP address field, enter the static IP address you want to assign on it but make sure that its within your network range.
e. Enter the appropriate values according to your exisitng network range on the IP Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and Primary/Secondary DNS Server.
f. Click Apply.
As a guide, kindly check pages 21-22 of the reference manual of the WNDAP360 here.
About your credit card machine, you may refer to its user manual on how you could set a static IP address to it.
