Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Check the user manual for LED behaviors.

I am having the very same issue. No splitters, upstream light starts blinking and internet goes out...I have moved the modem and router to the basement to connect it to the first line that comes into the house (and thus to elminate splitters and other cables being the issue). It didn't resolve the issue.
Did you figure out this problem?

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem.
Have the ISP resend the config file to the modem after the modems been factory reset.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.
