C3700-100NAS Drops Connections and Glitchy

Just got this modem-router combo. Main PC is connected by ethernet cable and doesn't seem to lose connection, but Day of Defeat periodically freezes and jumps during the game for a split second. Wifi connected devices periodically lose connection for short periods or get "unable to connect to the internet" errors, which fix themselves with or without going thru troubleshooting apparently citing network issues. Netgear support has upped this to a level 2 issue. Any ideas about how to resolve this or do I just go back to my older separate modem and router?

Kind of disappointing to have over 500 views, but no replies. I guess Netgear doesn't monitor much or there are not many monitors.

I'm having the same issue with the sam model device on a MacBook.

If I don't get a solution I will return the device to BB and get a Motorola.

Yeah, I will try that but I got it for xmas and Staples might only take it back for 14 days and my wife actually bought it earlier than that, so I might be screwed.

Re: C3700-100NAS Drops Connections and Glitchy

I could never get the C3700 to work with my PC/Network in Northern Virginia. Both Network and Cox said it was compatible with Cox. Numerous calls and chats with Netgear and Cox, as well as multiple forum posts and internet searches, resulted in no improvement in stopping the dropped wireless connection issues or my unstable game play. I fiddled with many adjustments. I most recently tried to reserve an IP address and had Cox come out and check the lines. Neither made any difference. I am not PC/Network literate, but I think it might have had something to do with the up channel. The light kept blinking, but both Netgear and Cox said it was not a problem. Cox did say they had had some problems with modem-router combos (he did not single out the C3700). I bought the C3700 at Staples and they won't take it back after 14 days, it was a Christmas present bought 14 days before Christmas, so I have an expensive paper weight. I have gone back and am using my old DOCSIS 2.0 modem and Dlink router and everything is working fine again. Trying to upgrade to Docsis 3.0 has so far been a total waste of time and money. I am sorry I bought the Netgear C3700.

Re: C3700-100NAS Drops Connections and Glitchy

I've experienced similar connection issues with the c3700 where I would get dropped from the 2.4g wireless connection. In searching for the reason I stumbled on a wifi diagnostic and troubleshooting tool called NetSurveyor (works with windows and can be found at this link: http://nutsaboutnets.com/netsurveyor-wifi-scanner/ then: Support --> Free Tools)
What the tool does is analyze the wireless network connections in your vicinity to show which channels are most used. As it turns out, my c3700 was in auto mode using channel 6 while 4 other neighbors were using the same channel for their networks. The tool also showed me that there were several unused channels available. I changed my router settings to point to an unused channel and haven't been dropped since.

I've seen a lot of wireless connection complaints on the c3700 while searching for answers to solve my problem. I'm not sure if this router is sensitive to channel sharing, but this solution may be worth trying....

I was able to check the channels in the neighborhood and I tried some that were in less use, but it did not make any difference. I went back to my old docsis 2.0 and dlinl DIR-655 and things are back to normal. Even with the docsis 3.0 C3700 I didn't notice much difference in how downloads acting in real life. The cox folks said they had had some trouble with modem/router combos, no particular brands or models. At least I was able to get my money back.

Re: C3700-100NAS Drops Connections and Glitchy

I've been having similar problems with my C3700 (I have Comcast Xfinity), where my laptop will connect to wifi, but there's no internet connection, then if I change from the 5g to 2.4 or vice-versa, it'll get connectivity.. it doesn't seem to be a solid, reliable product

Hello calgecko

Have you tried clearing out you wireless network lists in your laptop then trying to reconnect to the network it could be some old setting it had saved when trying to connect to the network. Also you may want to try changing channels on the wireless network. Last thing I would so is try to change the SSID I have seen this work for some people.

Hello Lalin

Who is your ISP? have you checked all your connections and bypassed the splitter if you have one on your cable line.
