Hello. Woke up this morning to all my devices offline. When I logged into the router to check status, I recieved a "Welcome" page.
How did my device just factory reset itself without my input? The only item that seems to have been remembered were the Wireless SSIDs. All the other settings were gone (Port Forwards, DHCP Reservation, Keyword blocks, etc).
I cannot be the only one this has happened to. Does anyone know why this happens? IIRC, it was on the latest firmware.

I've seen it happen with firmware issues, power issues, line issues on combo devices, and with combo devices (like the cax) that are triggered by the isp.
If it sets backup and works fine, I'd grab a screen snip of the cable connections page and event logs. sometimes line issues can trigger a reset.

Re: CAX80 Nighthawk Factory Reset itself this morning
Thanks for the quick reply @plemans !!
Everything seems to be fine again. I'll grab some logs and stash em. Also need to update the configs I added since the last backup.
I did notice the internet connectivity was intermittent throughout the night since some of my Mining devices captured the disconnects and reconnects.
Is 33+ devices too much for this unit to handle? I think at this point I might need an enterprise grade device(s) (no more combos).

Re: CAX80 Nighthawk Factory Reset itself this morning
No, its not to much for it. I've got that same router and have used it with over 50+ (think I had upwards of 70 for a while). Its a pretty darned capable device.
The only reason I'm not using it now is I'm messing with an RAXE device. Plus I like mesh as I have a larger home so will be going back to a mesh device at some point.

Re: CAX80 Nighthawk Factory Reset itself this morning
ah, understood. Thanks for the valuable info. I'm going to hit up Cox and see if there were any outages last night. All other variables look good: Power, SNR, etc.
Can the ISP actually force a factory reset on these devices? I figured a reboot was the most they would be able to do.

Re: CAX80 Nighthawk Factory Reset itself this morning
Update:
Confirmed there was an ISP outage this morning. However, Cox says they can only reboot remotely and not force firmware or factory resets. And the really odd part is that the SSIDs were the only things that were saved after the restore.
Either way, something got silly after the outage but all is well now. Thanks for the help @plemans

glad its working. A power fluctuation in the coax line can trigger it in my experience.
Again, just glad you have it working again.

Re: CAX80 Nighthawk Factory Reset itself this morning
Not sure if this thread is still going, but my CAX80 router does this and resets the WiFi network name (SSID) and password almost after every power cycle/reboot. Which I do regular reboots to general router health and clearing router cache, firmware is current per Netgear. I used to use a a Netgear C7000 router for upwards of 5 years and it never did it. What was the solution again? I may also start a new thread.
