CAX80 loses 2.4 wifi band
This has happened to me twice in the last month - the 2.4 GHz WiFi band shows up as available, the light on the modem is lit but it cannot connect to anything, nor can anything connect to it. The ethernet and the 5 GHz WiFi band both remain fine and functional. A reboot corrects this issue.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Re: CAX80 loses 2.4 wifi band
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What devices do you have all connected?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
Is Smart Connect enabled on the modem?
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Re: CAX80 loses 2.4 wifi band
Firmware is v2.1.5.2
Connected devices include Roku TV, Amazon Echo, ring camera, MacBook Air laptop, Epson printer, iphones and a Galaxy tablet.
Channel for the 2.4 wireless is Auto (9).
SmartConnect is NOT enabled.
On any given day there is as many as 3 or 4 wifi neighbors.

Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz
Does the front LED on the modem for 2.4Ghz turn OFF when this happens?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

I have set the channel to 11 on the 2.4 wireless as per your advice.
The 2.4 light remains on; to look at the modem/router, you would not know there was an issue.
The FW update was performed on initial set up last year. This is the second CAX80 I've had, the first one was returned under warranty.
I was under the impression that a factory reset was a last-ditch effort, if all else fails. Is that true?

Re: CAX80 loses 2.4 wifi band
Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Yes, I did do that, although I had to wrestle with Windows permissions.
