Cannot find Firmware Update or Router Update button on N600, C3700 WiFi cable modem router

Hello,

On Oct 5, '17 I received an e-mail from NetGear advising me to upgrade the firmware on my N600-c3700 router to fix a security issue. It asks to log into the router, select Avanced Administration and then select Firmware or Router Update option. There is no such option displayed in my case.

How do I update the firmware?

My current firmware is V2.02.08. It has been like that since at least April '17.

 Thanks,

       Most likely, you don't.

Cable TV ISPs generally want to control the firmware on cable modems
which are connected to their networks, so you may not be able to update
the firmware on your cable (TV) modem.  The ISP can do it.

If the folks at Netgear who are in charge of these notifications were
even minimally alert, then they might not be bothering users who have no
control over their firmware.  Unless their scheme is to prod users into
complaining to their ISPs about it.  Seems unlikely, though.

  •  I have the same issue for which I recieved the standard bogus incorrect answer from Netgear which only serves to remind me WHY I DON'T USUALLY BUY NETGEAR.  I have the identical issue and my question was closed.  I can't find my question so I hope you don't mind that I'm joining yours.   The controlled by your ISP does not apply to mine - My model is the C6250-100NAS and it is MINE.  Bought by ME.    IF you purchased yours yourself then I feel your pain.  My version of the firmware is vulnerable but for the EXACT same reasons can not be updated.  The option has to be there in order to update folks.   I hope you have better luck than I .  I'm going to have to pitch this router and go with ASUS or someone else as soon as I have money to spend again.

Also, please make sure a factory reset is done after updating the firmware. The steps are linked below.

         This one?:

            https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1400638

I clicked on your user-ID to find that.

      > [...] I have the identical issue [...]

This seems to be a non-standard meaning for "identical".  This thread
      began with a question about a C3700, a cable-TV modem+router.

      > My model is the C6250-100NAS and it is MINE. [...]

Ok, but the other thread (yours) referred to an "R6250", which is not
a cable-TV modem+router.  If you really have a C6250, then it may not be
amazing that a response tailored to an R6250 would be less than
satisfactory, but it's not immediately clear that Netgear is the cause
      of that dissatisfaction.

      > The controlled by your ISP does not apply to mine [...]

For a cable-TV modem(+router), the question is not who owns it, but
to whose network it's connected, as explained above.

      > [...] My version of the firmware is vulnerable [...]

         Says who?

AHA! well.. A: I clicked the icon,  looked at the account stuff but now I know to click the name thing.  I was totally unaware of that so thanks!

B: The other thing was a clear mistake (C6250 is right, R6250 is not.  I had issues finding it on the list and the photos of them are identical.  I would have sworn to you that I got the original model directly from the router-beast itself but.. yes.. oops )

As a result I was responding to:  https://kb.netgear.com/000049498/Security-Advisory-for-WPA-2-Vulnerabilities-PSV-2017-2826-PSV-2017-2836-PSV-2017-2837

However, I still have no solution to updating firmware and I'm not really confident with hardware that does not have a firmware update path.

If you see anything else I missed,  I'm good with you pointing it out.  I just want to update it if it needs.  I have a very very mixed household with 5 android devices, 2 pieces of fruit and 5 PC's.

        Ideas?
