You don't. You could ignore it.

Probably not. "an update" from what?

Ignore a potantial exploit into my system seems not smart and there has been no firmware updates for my modem since i purchased it.. i'm using the latest..
Its ok this will be the last netgear i ever buy, the software is poor and the support is non existent.. Obviously netgear takes security very lightly, poor company all round.

As always, an actual version number would be more useful than your
opinion of what's "the latest" today.
> Ignore a potantial exploit into my system seems not smart [...]
It's not "a potantial exploit into [your] system"; it's another
(potential) vulnerability if your system is already seriously
compromised. As it says in that cited thread, "If someone can
overlisten to that traffic, then you're already in big trouble."

Or, at least, it pays little attention to problems like this, which
present miniscule actual threats, but do disturb many users.

I didn't say that it was nothing. Read it again. What I said was:

Which, I claim, is (still) true.

You're welcome, but I'm not Netgear, you're not my customer, and if
you think that you're dealing with a serious security problem here, then
I don't value your opinion very highly, either, no matter how
eloquently you express it.
