VirtualBox on ReadyNAS OS6
I didn't really know where to post this so please move if there is a better suited forum.
I have been able to use VirtualBox on ReadyNAS in the past, but since I have moved over to the new NAS's running OS6 I have not been able to get it right, I have basic linux knowladge (enough to get it working on the previous ReadyNAS's) but now I am hitting a few issues.
Has anyone done this one OS6 yet? and if not perhaps this is our chance?
Thus far I have installed virtualbox-4.2.16 and then I try to run I get the following
I'm obviously not worried about X11 not starting however I need virtualbox to actually run.
From this message I would assume there is a miss match in kernel headers since the ReadyNAS is proprietary?
running /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup gives me the following:
/var/log/vbox-install.log looks as follows:
Any help in making this work is appreciated, and will be by other users too I'm sure!

You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.

Re: VirtualBox on ReadyNAS OS6
Should be pretty similar to the 4.2 thread on the same subject. You'll need GPL kernel header sources to compile the needed modules.

Re: VirtualBox on ReadyNAS OS6
This is actually on the VirtualBox image of OS6 that you provided in another post, probably not the best way to test it but it's all I have right now, waiting for a shipment of new ReadyNAS's

Re: VirtualBox on ReadyNAS OS6
What models have you ordered?
Have you made any further progress using the GPL? The kernel folder would be called something like linux-3.0.x

Re: VirtualBox on ReadyNAS OS6
OK so I'm starting from scratch again, loading the kernal myself, I'm following this > https://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopi ... 35&t=26468
But http://www.readynas.com/download/GPL/RN ... WW_src.zip no longer seems to be available?

Re: VirtualBox on ReadyNAS OS6
Why would you be using the GPL for 4.2.4? That is a very old firmware version from March 2009.
You should be using the GPL for 6.0.8: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2649/~/gpl-open-source-code-for-programmers
