I am surprised and disappointed that NETGEAR has announced departure from the VPN firewall market. Rather than generalize let me describe my situation.
I have a network with the following NETGEAR devices: FVS336GV3 router; a FVS318N as cold standby; a 16 port switch, a 24 port switch, both fully populated; 6 WNDAP360 access points and one cold standby; 4 consumer type routers as access points, an Orbi Home Wi-Fi system and multiple small switches. I use VLANs on the network. Around 40 users and perhaps a 100 devices.
Although well versed in computer technology I am not a network specialist. Thus I chose a single vendor approach. Much of this is getting old and should be upgraded. With the recent announcement I cleary have to go another router vendor to get supported firmware. Perhaps I move entirely to another vendor. Why did you do this to me?

Dear ddp516,
Nader is correct with his response. We understand and try to maintain high continuity with our product families but from time to time it becomes necessary to embrace disruptive change due to new architectural models. I apologize for the discontinuity we might have caused with your purchasing plans but we wanted to make sure to make you aware as early as possible. We are actively working on solutions to replace and improve our offerings in this area.
Best regards,
John

Re: Prosafe VPN firewalls End of Life
John,
Thank you for your response. I understand you will be announcing new products of this type. I can wait. I had a totally different impression from the rather abrupt announcement on the products portion of the NETGEAR website. May I suggest you indicate that there are plans for future offerings on the Prosafe VPN firewalls product page where you announce the EOL.
Looking forward to the new products.
