D6400 and 900mbs fftp (Full Fibre to Property)
Netgear D6400, Firmware - V1.0.0.74_1.0.74. Windows 10. Private house / home.
Will my Netgear D6400, router work with Full Fibre to Property 900mbs download speed? I have ordered this full Fibre from EE, but it is not installed yet.
I have been successfully using this D6400 router with EE Fibre to Cabinet, at 75Mbs, for several years now, but not sure whether it will work with the proposed upgrade to 900Mbs FFTP?
If not, which Netgear router would work with 900Mbs FFTP?
Many thanks in advance

The D6400 is a DSL modem/router. FTTC may mean that you were using it on a DSL exchange.
The D6400 can work on FTTP, you just set it up to connect to a cable service, bypassing the modem bit.
But that depends on what EE uses to connect you to the Internet. These days, ISPs like to supply combined modem/routers.
What do you expect EE to provide? If it is a simple optical network termination (ONT), you can just connect the D6400's WAN port to the Ethernet output of whatever box EE provides.
While it will work, your D6400 is old, from 1964. It will do the job, but it is several generations of wifi behind the latest. But it does have support for USB storage, a feature that Netgear axed from some newer routers.

Maybe not 1964 but 2016 🙂
@michaelkenward has great points. What's your expectations from this router. It wasn't bad when it was released but its getting a bit older, slower. While it might hit 900mbps wired speeds, its going to be fairly slow on the wireless side.

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, while I imagine that the WiFi may be not up to present day standards, my home network, connecting my two powerful desk tops and lap top, is totally comprised of fast Ethernet cabling, running at 1Gb. So as long as the D6400 works with the Fibre input, from the EE Full Fibre modem, (which I've seen installed on the outside wall of our neighbors houses), I should be able to get the full 900Mbs. Think it will connect to the "Red" port on the back of the D6400, according to the manual.
The only time the D6400's wireless network is accessed, is when we have the odd relative visiting, using their mobile, connecting it through our wireless network.

You might get near that, but these modem/routers were designed in the era of DSL Internet, where you were lucky to get 70 Mbps from the Internet. Some of us are still stuck here while OpenReach faffs around.
But I doubt if most users would notice much difference between 900 Mbps and something a lot slower.
So, suck it and see is probably the best approach. If you are upgrading from VDSL, anything anywhere near 900 Mbps will be a magic improvement.
