I have had this modem/router for a few weeks now. No problems with it.
I have a new TV. Samsung 8500 series. I have connected the TV via ethernet, but the light on the router is always orange, even when the TV is connected to the the internet and streaming video. I have tried other ports. Port 4 is used for my PS4 and is orange when PS4 is turned off, and white when turned on, so I know its working correctly. Guess there must be some incompatibilty with the TV?

The orange light signifies that the link speed of that port is 100 Mbps. Your TV probably doesn't have Gigabit Ethernet. That should not be a problem. 100 Mbps is more than enough to stream any kind of video.
The TV is probably disconnecting its Ethernet connection when turned off. On the other hand, the PS4 is probably not shutting down entirely. A lot of electronics (e.g. TV set-top boxes) don't really shut down when "turned off".

Wait a second, that's not right, when the TV is off, so is the light.

Thanks, I thought the orange light indicated a connected device, and a white light indicated the device was powered on.
