GSM7224v2 console port

I suppose this should apply for any product.
I am trying to connect a Cisco 2500 series (as an access server) to my new NETGEAR switch. I have a RJ45 to DE9 adapter that has the wires loose so they can be connected in any fasion.

To determine the pinout of the cisco octal cable I'm looking at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk801/tk36/technologies_tech_note09186a00801c9a10.shtml
According to that page the 8 RJ45 connectors are DTE

About 3/4 down the page there is a section titled
"RJ-45 Port and Adapter Pin-outs"

My question is what exactly is the pinout of the console DE9 port on the back of the NETGEAR switch. Is it DTE or DCE? Should I follow the adapter pinout on the second page?

I would love for anyone to chime in who has done this sort of adapter before.

Thanks
