MKV files don't work with Samsung TV

I recently added the Netgear GS305E switch to my network, for the wired devices in my bedroom. But since doing so I cannot stream MKV files to my Samsung smart tv. MP4 files seem to work fine, but after a long period of black screen, I eventually get a message that says the file is unsupported. However if I bypass the switch entirely and plug the Ethernet cable straight into the TV they work fine again!
I'm probably missing something really obvious, but can't seem to work it out or find any information on the subject. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?

No other systems connected to the new installed switch, probably making more load to the DLNA media server?
Time for a factory reset, probably a firmware update? -> https://www.netgear.com/support/product/gs305e
Does not sound like a healthy connection to me.

Re: MKV files don't work with Samsung TV
Hard to imagine the addition of a GS308E would cause such a problem - assuming there is no misconfiguration.
Where are you connecting the Samsung TV to exactly to play-back these MKV containers, where are these MKV stored?

Re: MKV files don't work with Samsung TV
The TV is connected to port 1 on the switch and the files are stored on my PC, streamed via media library

Re: MKV files don't work with Samsung TV
Thanks, factory reset and re-installing the firmware seems to have fixed it!
I did update of firmware when I first got the device but obviously something wasn't sitting right.
Anyway, I am very grateful for your speedy reply and unquestionable wisdom!
