switch in stack is in 'Oper Stby' status, how to I make it active?

Hi

  I have been searching but just can not find the command in manual or on forum,

wha is the command to take switch out of  Oper Stby and make it active?

best regards, Roberto

EDIT:

 note I thought stand by meant the ports on stande by switch would not be working.   the LAG's are OK.

what does ' Oper Stby' status mean?

Re: switch in stack is in 'Oper Stby' status, how to I make it active?

Hi @robfantini

Welcome to the community!

For Stacking Switch, there are three different Unit status:

1.Mgmt SW: this Unit is Master, manage whole stacking switch;

2.Stack Mbr(Oper Stby): this Unit is Stacking member, but it is standby for Management. When master unit is down or manaual failover, this Unit will take place for Master Unit, to manage whole switch;

3.Stack Mbr: these Units is Stacking members, no chance to take place to Master normally unless manual Move the Stack Master to d Different Unit.(CLI Command: movemanagement <fromunit-id> <tounit-id>)

All Stacking Units should be working normally, all ports can forwarding traffic.

If you want to switchover for Master and Stby Unit, you can execure CLI command as as below:

(Switch) #configure
(Switch) (Config)#stack
(Switch) (Config-stack)#initiate failover

Hope it helps!

 I see what you mean , I had thought stand by meant the switch was not part of stack. thank you.
