How To Stop Netgear Armor Vulnerability Scan on a device

The Netgear Armor scan is wasting paper on my printer.  Apparently it does it's weekly scan, and the printer thinks a print job is starting.  I want to disable the internal scan at least for that device.  If I cannot disable that scan I will need to disable all internal scanning.  If I cannot disable scanning then I need to disable the armor service and find another means of protection (meaning no subscription).

The Armor device settings screen only lets me "rename" the device.

How do I disable the vulnerability scan for my HP Inkjet printer so it stops printing garbage and wasting paper and ink every week?

Same issue here. Dexter, instead of private messaging people why is the solution not just posted?

For those that have subscribed I believe a refund is in order.
  • I recently got an Orbi router system, and now this is happening. Help please.

  • I'm also running into this issue with a HP Color LasterJet MFP M476nw.  Can I get the secret firmware?  My firmware shows current for RBR50 at V2.3.5.30 though?

  • Was there any fix to this?  I have the same problem with my Orbi and HP7855 printer.

No fix so far; they upgraded the firmware on the ORBI router to a beta version in the hope of resolving the problem without much success.  I have 4 printers in my house, 2 Brother laser printers and 2 HP Officejets.  Before the firmware update, I had the issue with one each of the printers.  After the update, the second Brother started acting up as well.  I sent my logs to their engineering Department and they are still working on the problem.  The last suggestion I received from them is ro remove the concerned printers from the Netgear Armor scan.  If anyone knows the procedure on how to remove a device from the scan without removing it from the internet, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

It looks like you would have to remove them from the network.
  • Thanks everyone for the information. I disabled Armor over the weekend, so I’ll monitor over the next couple of weeks if I still get the unwanted printouts.

      Same issue

      My brother DCP-L2550DW keeps printing:

      HEAD  /  HTTP/1.1

      HOST:  10.0.0.27:9100

      User-Agent: curl/7.59.0

      Accept: */*

      Please release a fix.

This is still happening - even after I removed the printer from the scan like someone suggested.  I've probably wasted 60 pieces of paper at this point.  I have the new firmware and I've worked with your case management team, Netgear.  When are you going to solve this problem?

Help!  My last case was 42028998.

  • Netgear please respond with a public fix. My HP Printer continues to print out 3 pages of wasted paper & ink. My RBR50 has the current firmware V2.3.5.30

A fix for us all is much appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi Kajun, this has been reported to engineering and is currently being worked on. We will provide an update once available.

  • I am having the same issue. I cant turn on off this armor. Its blocking lots of my devices. I see the option on my phone but it times out. When I login the computer I cant find any options to disable it.

Hi dyard, the Armor feature does not have the option to block devices. Are your devices unable to connect to the network or is it blocking certain websites? Have you tried using another device where you have the app (Orbi or Nighthawk) installed to turn off the Armor feature?

Take a look at message 36. This is how I stopped Netgear Armor.  Haven't had a problem since.

      Good luck!

  • My Orbi's firware is v.2.3.5.30

I'm using the Orbi ios app.  When I check for updates, it says the firmware is up to date.

Any idea on how to update the firmware via the Orbi App?

I don't know why, but my Orbi router always says I'm up to date. However, when I go to Netgear's website and login, I go to Downloads and can then see the latest version of software/firmware. I've done that 2 or 3 times since I installed my Orbi late last summer. It's frustrating that the app doesn't pick up on that, but this is the best option that I've found to stay up to date.

I had three pages of nonsense printed out this morning, and searched in google which brought me here.  Apologies for resurecting an old topic, but is there any fixes for this problem?

  • the security scan from the Armor product running on the MR90 routers triggers thousands of firewall alerts on all of my PC's. It terrifies my family as it is reported as an attack. I've been a network architect and this type of scan is totally inappropriate except on a manual scheduled test. Please explain how to disable this feature. I like the idea of the armor product but will have to discontinue it if I can't disable this feature.
