R6700AX router disabled dhcp but won't discover other dhcp servers

Firmware version is 1.0.3.92

WAN is on network 192.168.0.0/24

LAN is 192.168.1.0/24

I have disabled DHCP services on the router hoping that I would get DHCP from other router in network 192.168.0.0 but clients do not seem to discover that server.

I have not found a way to direct DHCP discovery traffic to my other server. I need my clients to receive an address on the 192.168.0.0 network.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

What "other network" is it?

Why not simply use access point mode?

Re: R6700AX router disabled dhcp but won't discover other dhcp servers

Thanks for your reply Plemans

I'm trying to use the R6700 as a router as I have other networks behind 192.168.0.0.

However, I don't see see RIP routing is working between this router and my Cisco 871 either and might endup using AP mode.

Not sure about your question "what other network". If you're asking about 192.168.0.0, that's my main home lab network.

Any ideas why other DHCP server is not being discovered?

Thanks

So what is your full setup?

You've got a cisco 871

you've got a R6700

Any other devices? Modem/gateways? and how is it laid out (look at my signature)

You're using 2x different subnets?

Re: R6700AX router disabled dhcp but won't discover other dhcp servers

Thanks again for your kind responses.

I think I've solved my problem by using AP mode and static routes. I would've preferred using Router mode but I find the routing config options very restrictive in the RS700. And there's no CLI.

Just FYI my setup is not simple as I have a couple of other routers and a few switches that handle different networks, as I'm setting up a CCIE practice lab. Would need to send you a diagram for better clarity.

Thanks much for your input!
