Re: Do the sshd worth
Depends what you are using it for, whether you backup your data, how comfortable you are with using it etc.

sorry mdgm, what do you use a NAS for? AFIK are used as a backup storage.
Anyway I was thinking if the ssd part of the disk influences a lot the performances on a NAS system?

SSH doesn't use much in the way of resources in itself. It depends what you do with it.

Re: Do the sshd worth
I think he is talking about SSD - ie solid state drives.

Ah, Solid State Drives.
That makes most sense in e.g. a 716x if you need really fast performance.
For backup storage using SSDs doesn't make much sense as extremely high performance is generally not that important.

Re: Do the sshd worth
I'm thinking the query might related to solid state hybrid drives.
I doubt these will help much as LAN is the biggest bottleneck - with normal physical drives I can easily max out my gigabit port.

Re: Do the sshd worth
Ok... sorry, this is more related with my bad english.
I'm talkinga about Solid-state hybrid drive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_drive).
Hard disk of new generation with a small part done with Solid State Drives with a fast access to the data and the rest with the old technology of the rapidly rotating disks (HDD).
Does it worths to use SSHD instead of HDD on a NAS system?
Hope now is more clear my request 🙂

Re: Do the sshd worth
I don't think they would be worth it. Gigabit ethernet is the bottleneck.
Also if disks are not on the compatibility list then if you use them you will be denied support.
