HD WD 3Tb not accepted

With the disk inserted in the NAS you could hover or the disk in RAIDar or better yet download the logs zip file and look in that.
How is the disk connected to your Mac? Is it in an internal sata slot or have you connected it e.g. via USB? It's possible SMART commands may not work with some USB enclosures.

Yes I read about the connection issue re USB port and SMART status, It is an internal drive currently connected via USB. I will disconnect place back in NAS and follow your instructions before reporting back.
