NAS & Security System Choices
I own an NV+ Ver 1 and have used it to stream video over a local home network, store files and PC backup images.
Performance copying large files to and from the NV+ is acceptable but not wow. I am eager to upgrade and will shortly decide between a Pro 6 or Ultra 6 - depending on if the chosen unit meets my intended requirements.
I have postponed purchasing a CCTV with a dedicated DVR solution in favor of investigating video surveillance recording through NAS.
The currently proposed security solution costs a mere 1300 USD for an 8 Channel Avermedia Hybrid DVR and 2 Longse CCTV cameras model LIA40ESHD.
My other option would be to upgrade my NV+ for one of the models mentioned earlier, and selecting comparable spec. IP cameras. This options is for having the convenience of a central repository and access to one device.
The DVR and CCTV option is a tried and tested platform but will imply that a new DVR to occupy space in my home office.
I am not sure about the NAS recording features also given that I will be configuring whichever option chosen with remote access for both files, folders, and security camera monitoring.
Which way should I go ?

Go with the ReadyNAS Pro 6.
Take a look at http://www.readynas.com/surveillance and http://www.readynas.com/remote

Re: NAS & Security System Choices
I think the CCTV cameras are best for the security. And you can easily installed and programmed it self. There is also a feature that you can monitor them using the security apps on your mobile and get the live videos from that cameras.
