NV+ v1 and v2 power supplies

I have a very, very old NV+ that died a couple of days ago. I'm guessing that it is the power supply since it acts like it isn't even plugged in. I ordered and received a new NV+, but the old disks wouldn't work in the new chassis. I called customer support and they were very nice, but the issue is the v1 versus v2 one. I think I have everything backed up but in various places and it would take some work to get everything just the way I want it.

So, I'm wondering whether to send the v2 back and go shopping for a v1 (which will involve a week and more waiting time) and then I had a thought. Can I use the power supply from the v2, to try to get the v1 up and running again long enough to make a neat and exact backup of it and then go ahead and use the v2, restoring the data to it.

The old NV+ v1 I have uses a normal power cable plugged directly into the chassis, while the new one has a transformer cable with a completely different (4pin) connector to the chassis. However, US Amazon sells a power supply for a NV+, but doesn't make any mention of v1 or v2 which implies that the pinning is the same between the two on the inside of the box.

Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, caveats? I do realize that the problem might not have anything to do with the power supply, but it is the weak link in the model and having it refuse to turn on (no lights, no action, no nothing) after I come back from holiday is suspicious.

Re: NV+ v1 and v2 power supplies

While waiting to see what others say, I took the new nv+ v2 apart enough to be able to see all of it's innards. And, there is no internal power supply. They have moved the whole thing to the box in the cable, and the connector is a physical part of the circuit board so there is no way to use it/connect it to the old nv+ which requires an atx connection. I had assumed, incorrectly, that back behind the panel some place there would still be an atx connector on a circuit board. Back to thinking about buy new power supply, try to find nv+ v1, or rebuild contents of old server on the new nv+ v2 I have.

The spare power supply from Amazon is for the v1.

When did you purchase the NV+ (v1)? Was it purchased brand new on/after August 21, 2007?

Also is your serial number in this range?: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10259

Your NV+ should still be under warranty then.
