ReadyNas
I am new to this technology and want to use a product for a few needs.
1. Backup!
2. Most important to connect the ReadyNas to a PCI USB 3.0 card in my windows 7 system to edit video with Premiere. Is this possible or should the ReadyNAS simply be used as a backup or media server...

No, the ReadyNAS cannot be used as a USB hard drive. Instead, it will connect to your PC via Ethernet (probably with a router or switch in-between). Once connected, you can map shares on the NAS to drive letters on your PC.
Network-attached storage is great for holding large video files. But you will probably also want a large internal SSD for the best performance while actually editing the files.
