Readynas Duo RND2150 not working as a NAS
I've also enabled SMB1 and enabled TLS 1.0 1.1 1.2 in Windows internet options.
My problem is, I can't access it as a network attached storage device in my networks, it is on the same workgroup (WORKGROUP) it's shows up as a storage Readynas Duo RND2150 but when I click on it, i gets aninterrupted action error.
Is there any way to get this working or is my only option to return it and look for an alternative? My old Asus RT-N66U has usb ports that I was thinking of connecting up some usb HDD but that would likely have a very slow data transfer rate so I thought I should go for a proper NAS.

Clicking on that icon doesn't do what you think. It's trying to open your browser, not file explorer.
Try entering \\192.168.1.242 in the file explorer address bar (being careful to use the correct slash). That should show you the list of shares. If/when you are prompted for credentials, make sure you enter credential for a user account that is set up on the NAS. (Admin will work, but generally it is better to set up a different user account).

Tried that and I get a Windows can't find \\192.168.1.242 check the spelling and try again. Error :'(
Odd because that is the IP address that Windows is showing for the NAS in your screenshot. You might want to double-check that IP address.
In any event, Netgear discontinued your NAS back in November 2011, so it is at least 12 years old. It was a good NAS its day, but that was a long time ago. The transfer speed for large files is around 20 MB/s, so about what you'd expect from a USB-2 drive. So if you are looking for good performance, you probably should get a current NAS instead.
Note the v2 you thought you were getting was discontinued in 2013, so it would also be outdated.

Re: Readynas Duo RND2150 not working as a NAS
Do you think the HTTPS is the issue?
When I double click on my Duo in File Explorer, I do get the shares (sort of). I do have ReadyDLNA enabled so it shows the Music, Pictures and Video folders (under my Media Share). Browse folders has the Media and Backups Shares (also visible under the tree in the left nav pane.
I did apply the workaround regarding the Virtual.conf file so mine show http://<ip-address>.
If I look at the properties of the Duo in Explorer I see this (note mine says HTTP:)

Re: Readynas Duo RND2150 not working as a NAS
@Alfred_manner is clicking on the storage icon for the NAS in Windows. Which will open the default browser to the web admin ui (frontview) - not the shares list.

That one is showing you the DLNA "folders". These are not the same as the shares - and really aren't folders at all. They are the media categories determined by DLNA. So if DLNA is enabled for multiple shares, all the photos in those shares show up if you click on "Pictures" - no matter what share they are actually in.
When I click on "This PC" on the bottom left pane, I see a list similar to yours. But when I click on "Network" on that same pane, I get a list that is organized differently.
- Computer
- Media Devices
- Multifunction devices
- Other Devices
- Printers
- Scanners
- Storage
Many of my devices show up on more than one list. My ReadyNAS aren't consistent (different NAS show up in different places).
My main NAS (RN526x) shows up under "Computer", and clicking on that opens the full share list. Other ReadyNAS (for instance my RN102) doesn't show up there at all.
NAS with DLNA enabled also show up under "media devices". Oddly enough, clicking on these icons also ends up opening the web admin ui. So it behaves differently from the other list I see in "this PC".
My RN102 shows up under "Storage" (although my RN526x doesn't). Right-clicking on that icon gives me this:
Clicking on this icon opens the browser and tries to connect to Frontview. I believe this is what is happening to @Alfred_manner
FWIW, I never access my own NAS via the network list - it's always been inconsistent/hit-or-miss with my various NAS. I just enter \\NAS-IP-ADDRESS in the explorer address bar. I've set up shortcuts to shares on the desktop for the convenience of family, but don't use them myself.

Re: Readynas Duo RND2150 not working as a NAS
Ah, OK, thanks. My Duo is strictly a backup device for my WD so I don't often directly access the files on it. When I do I just map a drive, uncheck the "reconnect at sign in" box.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.....
Now back to @Alfred_manner .

It really is a dead paper weight. Perhaps I'll look into a raspberry pi DIY nes that I can wire into this box.
