WD 3TB MyBook Essential USB 3.0
Hello 🙂
I bought a new hard drive today - http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Data-Storage/Desktop-Hard-Drives/WDCW3000BK - WD 3TB MyBook Essential USB 3.0.
As soon as I plugged it in, my ReadyNas PRO 2 (4.2.19) recognised it on the USB 3.0 port:
May 14 17:23:14 SNOWMAN kernel: usb 6-1: new SuperSpeed USB device using xhci_hcd and address 2
May 14 17:23:15 SNOWMAN kernel: scsi 6:0:0:0: Direct-Access WD My Book 1140 1003 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6
May 14 17:23:15 SNOWMAN kernel: scsi 6:0:0:1: Enclosure WD SES Device 1003 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6
May 14 17:23:15 SNOWMAN kernel: scsi 6:0:0:1: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 13
After formatting it as ext3, I couldn't mount it back.
Plugging it into the read USB 2.0 ports works fine - always finds it, boots up fine.
Upgraded to 4.2.20 and same story. However I got it to come up once, but not as super speed, so it was "480" instead of "5000" for the speed on the USB 3.0 port.
Still can't get it to work on USB 3.0 port, however again - every time on the USB 2.0 ports, it's fine.
May 14 19:01:43 SNOWMAN kernel: scsi 6:0:0:0: Direct-Access WD My Book 1140 1003 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6
May 14 19:01:43 SNOWMAN kernel: scsi 6:0:0:1: Enclosure WD SES Device 1003 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6
May 14 19:01:43 SNOWMAN kernel: sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 0
May 14 19:01:43 SNOWMAN kernel: scsi 6:0:0:1: Attached scsi generic sg5 type 13
Any ideas? Thanks 🙂
Have logged a support case, but I don't know what will happen.

Re: WD 3TB MyBook Essential USB 3.0
So support replied and they didn't read what I said, or my logs. They told me to make sure it's in "EXT3" and also if it already is, to perform a factory reset.
This is totally unacceptable to ask someone to reset it to factory settings, when I bought a drive to back it up. :slap:
Is there anyone that can help me please?

Re: WD 3TB MyBook Essential USB 3.0
I can't believe I got a generic reply, and was told to attach logs if I'm still having problems - when I already attached the logs first time !
Argh! My Netgear Support experience is horrible 😞
