Is your RNDU2000 set on XRAID or Flex-RAID? If its set on XRAID, then you may replace your existing 2TB disks with 4TB disks one-at-a-time but if its set on Flex-RAID, then you will have to pull-out all 2TB disk then replace it with 4TB disks then perform a factory reset for an initial setup.

Be sure to have a back up of all of your data as well.

As per the compatibility list, only the Hitachi 7k4000 HUS724040ALE640 is the only 4TB disk listed in it. The WD40EFRX may or may not be compatible. It would be at your own risk.

You may check the compatible list of hard drives for your RNDU2000 here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641

Its not on the HCL, but there are plenty of folks using the WD40EFRX in their ultra and pro systems. The drive will work, the only risk is that you might be denied support. I use the WD30EFRX in my pro-6.

That said, there are plenty of happy Hitachi users here also.

The home page of the web admin interface will tell you if you are using xraid (volume status line). https://nasname/admin or https://nasipadder/admin
