Netgear Genie Crashes
I have had no problem accessing the router through the browser. However, I wanted parental controls so downloaded the Netgear Genie app to my laptop. Each time I open it, it stops working almost immediately.

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
There are many post about running Genie on laptops, and the type of issues user's experience, one is what you are expereincing, and an other big one, is it can actually effect the performance of the router. If I were you, I would uninstall the Geneie app, from your laptop.

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Genie has been working fine on my Lenovo Carbon XI even after I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7. Today (9 Oct 2015) Genie informed me that an update was available -- it even said the update added Windows 10 compatibility. Well guess what. Now the program crashes on start every time. I get the message "Genie has stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution". Anyone know if there is a way to roll back to the previous, NOT IMPROVED FOR WINDOWS 10 verision, so I can run it on Windows 10?
Cheers
David

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Hi @dmowbray,
We are already aware of this issue and we are working on a fix. In the mean time, you can refer to the download link below for the previous version (2.4.12) of NETGEAR Genie.

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Actually, I get a File Not Found error, and it asks me for a file code.
I did find a good link on another page, though.
Now my problem (which I will research and post separately) is that Genie's Parental Controls page tells me I'm not connected to the internet. (there is considerable evidence that I am connected to the internet, not least of which is my posting this message).
Thanks very much.

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Hi, I just tried loading Genie on my windows 10 laptop and it keeps crashing, it won't let me open it. How do I install a previous version? I downloaded the most recent version and this version just crashes when open.

Requested File Does Not Exist.
Would you please post an updated link to the old version as the new version crashes every time. When is this going to be fixed?
Thank you.

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Can you post a new link? This one has expired and the dowload from the main site still does not work with Windows 10. Thanks.

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Today a new update to genie appeared. And guess what - it's still broken on windows 10. Between this disaster, and the EX6200 firmware failures, Netgear appears to have some serious software quality issues.
My advice - DON'T UPGRADE GENIE. and save the install download mentioned above in this thread in case you're foolish enough to do so!

Re: Netgear Genie Crashes
Your link no longer provides access to the file of the older version of Genie. I just bought my first Netgear router excited about the better performance and have had nothing but problems! I installed Genie 2.4.18 and it crashes as soon as I open it. This is a new computer running Windows 10 and a new router I just purchased AC1900 Model R7000. Please help.
