Something wrong with the site itself?
The "site" is the browser's control interface for your router.
The password for the online Netgear Genie (MyNETGEAR?) may not be the same as the password for the router.
But which genie are we talking about here? Desktop app, Android app? Something else?
What are you signing into? MyNETGEAR? Router Login?

Re: Nighthawk R7000 - Password Retrieval FAIL
It's the routerlogin.net site. If I remember right it has more functionality than the desktop app.
If you need to recover your password, the first thing they ask for is the serial number from the label. For some reason, entering the serial number isn't triggering the "Continue" button. It stays grey and non functional.

That's true. But as I explained, it isn't so much a "site" as access to the local control interface.
Take us through the clicks you have to go through to get this request for the serial number.

Re: Nighthawk R7000 - Password Retrieval FAIL
1 Type routerlogin.net into browser (I'm using Chrome)
2 Login screen appears
3 Type default user
4 Because I have apparently forgotten the pass, I hit "Cancel"
5 Password recovery page opens, asking for router serial number.

What's really irritating is that I have all this written down somewhere. Driving me bananas.

Re: Nighthawk R7000 - Password Retrieval FAIL
OK, the browser interface rather than desktop genie or something else.
Sadly, you seem to be in the realm of a "factory reset". You will lose your configuration settings, but should regain control.
There is a manual for your device somewhere at the end of this link:

Re: Nighthawk R7000 - Password Retrieval FAIL
It should be the same login info that logs me into the genie app, correct?
Luckily it still lets me in.
