MS60 (Mesh Satellite): https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/MK62/MS60-V1.1.6.122_2.0.58.zip

Installation Instructions:

  1. Download the firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop.
  2. Log in to the router using http://routerlogin.net
  3. Click the ADVANCED tab.
  4. Click Administration.
  5. Click Router Update.
  6. Click the Manual Update tab.
  7. Select satellite first and a new web page pops up. Please browse the new satellite firmware and upgrade satellite firmware first.
  8. After you finish the satellite firmware upgrade, please find “Locate and select the upgrade file on your disk” on the MR60 web GUI and click “Browse” and locate the file you just downloaded.
  9. Click Upload. While the firmware is loading, do not interrupt the upgrade process.
  10. The router reboots when the upgrade is complete.

After the router boots up and the LED becomes steady blue.

To check that the upgrade was successful, log in to the router again at http://routerlogin.net and check the firmware version.

Note: If a problem is seen after applying this FW update, try powering OFF the ISP modem, MR and MS units for 1 minute then back ON. Last resort would be to try a full on Factory Reset and setup from scratch.

  • I have updated to the latest firmware. I have lost my port forwarding. I had forwarded port 443 to an internal server. After 'upgrading' it is no longer there.

I try to re-enter it, I get a message saysing it conflicts with another service... but there isn't another service.

    How do I fix this?

        Awesome, thanks.

I go to Advanced / Backup Settings. I click Erase under the "Revert to factory default settings", click Yes under "Are you sure you want to do this?

The system reboots and comes back with all its settings intact. What is the story here?

  • Where did you find this firmware? Not the file it self, but the actual page you copied??
This firmware makes my satellite MS60 unconnected every time i reboot the router! MR60.

I'm so sick and tired of Netgear's reluctancy to develop a ok firmware, or just make it so that we can flash open source firmware on it that I'm about to explode.

I have bought a new router, and I'm leaving Netgear for good within a week.

    This is bullocks
  • Question, for some reason attempting to update the firmware, when I clicked on check for new version on the internet (of firmware), it would not detect the new version. I managed to update it manually, but something was preventing it from reaching out to the update servers I believe. After the update to firmware 1.1.6.122 was completed , I attempted to "check for new version on the internet" , which obviously I know there's not, but instead of getting the usual "You have the latest version installed, I'm getting a "Service Unreacheable". The 192./debug.htm page has the following info which I'm wondering if I should edit:

    ftp server: updates1.netgear.com
    https server:http.fw.updates1.netgear.com

    thanks for the help.

It's connected to Century Links Fiber to Home 1Gb service, Adtran Total Access 352 1287702G1.

  • I had to update both the router and the two sattelites manually. Was unable to connect the two sattelates afterwards. What was interesting was that both satelites had different mac adresses (the last digit was different in both cases) after the update. I have been trying to get the mesh network up and running again to no avail. Sattelites simply refuse to connect. Before the update everything was working, after the update only the router was.

Apologies, marked as new. Wanted to update my post:

I have managed to downgrade to version MR & MS60-V1.0.6.116_2.0.54 successfully (Basically it resets everything including standard login and password?! (now NETGEAR98 rather than the original NETGEAR97 that is on the sticker). Satelites received new MAC addresses again. Router kept the same MAC address.). Mesh network is functional again.

You need to update the MS first then the MR lastly. After FW is sent to the MS and MR and the process completes, a power OFF of the MS and MR is recommended for 1 minute or longer, then back ON with the MR first, then the MS one at a time. The MS should reconnect with out any problems. Keep this in mind for next FW update. MAC addresses should not be changing on the MS nor the MR.

Thank you for that info FURRYe38. Perhaps I will make another attempt in the near future. Good to know I also thought it was suspicious that the MAC addresses of both MS' changed. The FW updates also changed the standard passwords and usernames btw after I had reset all devices to factory settings.

  • Ran into numerous connectivity problems after installing the 1.1.6.122 update on my MR60/MS60.  Tried a factory reset and a new setup but the connectivity issues persisted.  Luckily I was able to roll back to the previous 116 version and now everything is working fine.

This new firmware is buggy and needs to be pulled.  Do not install it or you will regret it.

What kind of connectivity problems were you seeing?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What devices do you have all connected?

Need more information and details before claiming FW is bad and needs to be pulled.

My network consists of a NG CM1000 plugged directly into a MR60 router with a unmanaged switch connected via the Ethernet port.  There is a MS60 satellite connected wirelessly to the router.  I have about 31 devices that connect to wirelessly and there is a Ring alarm base and two computers that connect via the switch.

This is not a range problem.  This is not an issue with the distance between router and satellite. The issue is that many of my wireless devices and wired devices were not able to obtain an IP address from the router after installing the latest 122 firmware update.   I have had no issues before but,  after this latest update, devices were unable to obtain a IP address.  The router would not see the satellite and my phone would not connect via my wi-fi network.  The app is not much good when that happens.  I did multiple re-boots.  I did a hard reset and setup from scratch.  As soon as I was able to roll back that firmware to the 116 version, everything started connecting with no issues.

Let see what happens when more people install this update and post their experience.

  • I've upgraded the firmware to the latest release 1.1.6.122 and all my previous settings were completely lost. No port forwarding and the reserved IP addresses in the LAN setup were deleted.

While it was pain having to set the IP reservation table again for my 49 products connected it wasn't the end fo the world.

I am finding however the web interface no longer lets me view access control under the security tab, saying that I now need to use the Nighthawk app which also appears to be hit and miss since the update.

Is anyone having the same issue?

PS. Why does the MK prodcut range not appear in the 'model' drop down box?

      What broswer are you using?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

The Nighthawk app really seems to be a hot mess right now. This morning, I looked at the Device Manager and it was showing my two MR60 satellites as Orbi WiFi 6 System AX4200 units, which is new behavior. The IP address of each had changed overnight, too. Not sure if that's normal or not, but I thought I remember it being more stable. It's also showing ghost devices (e.g., "Cisco" with no further info) as connected but offline.

  • I've also had a number of issues with the latest v1.1.6.122 firmware.

No support available via NG so just adding my frustration to this thread.  Brief overview....

MR60 + 2 x MS60 (running from Virgin Router running in Modem Mode).
    - App cannot perform SpeedTest. Minor.
    - I'm almost certain a MAC Address on 1 Satellite has changed. Minor.
    - Reserved MAC/IP for one Satellite being ignored. Minor.
    - PC running Sonos App reporting 'not enough bandwidth and keeps disconnecting from Sonos speaker - satellite/PC/Speaker all in same room within 2m radius. Annoying.
    - Occasional (4 or 5 times daily) outright internet dropouts, or blips killing VPN connection.  Response over VPN when active seems more sluggish.

Please note a lot of the above is quite vague and not looking for assistance.  As I have no recourse through Support I just wanted to add to the thread to raise the issue which as has been stated already - *** At this moment in time you would be wise NOT to upgrade to this firmware *** ...definitely NOT if you work from home :)

I must confess that I am not overly surprised and have never been particularly impressed with NG/Firmware however that is my fault for talking this route and not Draytek for example.  Hey ho - now rolling back the firmware, happy days.

Apologies for the delay in updating however I wanted to leave this a while to give a fair appraisal of reverting to V1.0.6.116.

The process of reverting was somewhat painful as these things generally are under NG however I can now happily report that the ONLY problem I previously reported that I still have an issue with is the SpeedTest under the App which is still refusing to play ball.  This would suggest this was not related to the new firmware after all - not something I use frequently so not a problem for me anyway.

I must vent however - my saved settings under the latest firmware (v1.1.6.122) did not reload after reverting to V1.0.6.116 and factory resetting.  Also trying to re-configure the LAN setup i.e. naming devices, reserving IP addresses, assigning a higher IP address range all proved painful ....

      - identify attached devices by assigning device names etc sometimes lost the details I updated.

      - trying to reserve an ip address for a previously named device threw errors - device name was too long although it was accepted previously.

      - multiple devices being assigned the same IP address!!!

      - unreserved devices being assigned an ip address below the DNS IP address range of 100+.

These are all problems I've had countless times before on different firmware versions.  I'm a software developer so I it never ceases to amaze me how NG can get the fundamentals so wrong, and care so little!  Happy Days :)

I've let NG know about issues being seen with this version of FW.
I'll recommend that users avoid updating to this version and not use it.

Be sure to disable Auto Update to help keep the prior working FW version loaded on your MK systems.

  • I just wanted to add that im also having the same problems right after the update to FW 1.1.6.122. I will list the issues just to see if anyone else is experiencing the exact and/or similar issues:

    - Unstable connection with a drastic speed drop

    - MR60 Router does not see (will not sync) with the satellite

    - Any type of speedtest fails

    - Something ive noticed and not sure if it would be an issue with anything is that ive noticed that the router has always  had issues with connecting to the NTP server. Please let me know if this would be an issue.

    Issues within the APP:

    - App shows that the satellite is connected but satellite (MS60) LED is amber

    - App shows all devices connected to router is a wired conection when there is no wired devices connected

    - App shows a picture of a completely different device in the network map. (It actually shows me a picture of the R7500 and not the MS60)

There are other issues that are happening but these are the big problems ive discovered. If anyone has anymore issues other than what i listed please feel free to let me know so i can check my system. Ive started a ticket with netgear but it seems like all thats happening is a lot of questions and waiting for responses which is not helping.

What NTP server are you trying to connect to?

I'm currently using my ISPs and it's been able to authenticate and connect to it no issues.

Ensure you are entering the NTP Server address correctly.

Are you able to ping it at all?

Im just using the default setting which i believe tries to connect to the Netgear NTP server. And if i can remember correctly other than the initial first setup (which i never had problems with) my router has always said that it could not connect to the NTP server no matter how many factory resets ive tried including 30-30-30 factory resets. Hell, ive tried 1week-1week-1week power restarts/resets.

i actually havent tried to ping it for the simple fact that i never noticed any connection issues or speed issues. From that i really never had a reason to try and ping. I just thought i would add that bit of information since i noticed it and it might help others as well.

Well, I am not very smart. I left auto-update on and it installed the latest malfunctioning 1.1.6.122 last night. Same problems: sattelites missing, new IP addresses becasue they had diferent MAC adressses again (6th octet), etc.. Fortunately, I know how to go back now and have turned off auto-update.

FURRYe38 Are you referring to the bricking or the speedtest?

      • Nothing bricked for me fortunately.
      • I never tested the speed when 1.1.6.122 was installed. Did a speedtest now using the nighthawk app. It worked, but this is FW 116 I'm on. NOT about to install 122 again.
