seems netgear just released a updated firmware today. just a security patch update. V2.3.2.56 was old version, new version V.2.3.2.66.

It came up in my xr500 screen. Top right said I had update available. I tried to download it, but kept getting errors. One said it was wrong version. Another one said cant download this file. Its not on netgear website. Gave up in the end.

Download and I would suggest a factory reset afterwards.

Clear the browser cache/cookies and it will show the version correctly.

There's a link above, go to it and read the release notes. It's what you should be doing when you see an update.

It fixes security vulnerabilities, it is not based on 3.0 so won't include those features.

At the current time, I can connect again to the 5ghz network with it disabled, although of course, that's not optimal.

Actually, @Netduma-Fraser, quick update already. Able to connect, internet works fine upon initial connect but after a few minutes, internet no longer works. Trying to disconnect and reconnect to the 5ghz network just gives me a can't connect to this network error again on my phone.

@zmon Could you provide more information about the issue you still could connect to 5GHz with it disabled? I checked this issue and could not reproduce.

- XR500 firmware version?

- How do you disable WLAN 5GHz? push hardware button or set from web page?

- Is there other Router/AP with same SSID in your env?

Hello again, 

I wanted to update you on my attempt to downgrade. I attempted to do to a factory reset as you advised and for some reason the router will not perform a factory reset. I held the reset button down for up to 30 seconds. The only thing it does is go into a reboot. If I hold the button for up to 10 seconds the power light (orange) will start to flash and not stop flashjing as long as I hold the button. Nothing happens when I let go. If i hold th ereset button again and let it go when it starts to flash it performs a reboot, not a factory reset. I am at a loss with what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to do a hard reset of the router unplug the router and plug it back in or turn it off and turn it back on with the button and then try to reset it
