Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

I had the router crash and reboot again. This time I have been observing what the household members have been doing, and it appears to be related to HP OfficeJet and the its software package. When there is a document scan initiated, something happens and it crashes the router. Doesn't happen every time, but happens mostly when scanning documents from the HP OfficeJet. @TimChang have my debug zips been of any use in diagnosing it?

@TimChang I wrote in the e-mail that QOS is working properly with 112, it is not so yesterday qos broke, it started to turn off by itself, with the message all qos functions have been turned off

Thank you both for the reports, it is a trial firmware primarily to see whether the DHCP/disconnects is fixed so other features may suffer - it's not been released as a proper beta build.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

Good evening . As for DHCP disconnections I can say this. I have a netgear EAX15 MESH extender behind the XR500 router and at random decides to give the ip, the problem that the devices are in contrast because the reading seems to take place via IP but not via MAC ADRESS. XBOX and SMART TV as they had the same LAN IP even though they had different MACs. The Problem occurs in firmware 2.3.2.104 , 2.3.2.108 and also in 2.3.2.112.

Also the speed test for me seems to be broken regarding Ping download under load. I'm sure since testing with the site https://fast.com/it/ there is no proof of bufferbloat while with that of the xr500 router I have a ping of 100-95 ms in download under load.

The Problem occurs in firmware 2.3.2.104 , 2.3.2.108 and also in 2.3.2.112.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

.112 seems to have fixed the modem disconnects. 108 would disconnect from the modem once or twice a day. I could access the router via IP, but my modem was unreachable. I had to power cycle the router to regain connection. My modem is an Arris SB8200.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

Good to do, for when a new firmware more stable with the missing features?
I also wanted to know if there is some kind of problem with Qos if you use port 4 of the Xr500 in bridge mode to connect the box of my isp this because without the bridge only works with the proxy igm active and the upnp does not work properly and after some time the cpu usage of the router is 100% working. Thank you

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

How did you find out that you had been DDoS'd?

If you saw DOS entries in the logs, you can safely ignore these.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

I really don't understand how many more years it will take for this to work without anything bigger to complain about.... I see it's new routers coming out such as r2 xr1000 etc.... It's the problems are still in the old routers, I'm in this 2 years and I'm tired, promise a lot but do little, honestly if it was today i would never buy it!

For any issues like that with .112 please provide the log files to Tim if possible.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

it showed DDOS attack on logs and my whole internet went down!  I don't have anything else besides that! i have unchecked respond to ping on internet port. I don't know if that has anything to do with it! but next time I will have a Wireshark report of it unless you have another suggestion.

On fw .112 still problem in device manager only ethernet devices go to offline and online as in previous bets...  even though they are connected and they work all the time there is nothing in the logs.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

@fooka03 Can you help to confirm this happens in the half of the obtained lease time?

You can get the lease time from GUI => Settings=> Monitoring=> Connection Status

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

@TimChang I can definitely confirm the LAN shutdown/disconnect happens at half of the WAN lease time. Most of the time my ISP issues leases for 2 days and the WAN will renew every 1 day.

Other times, the ISP will have the lease time at 1 hour where the lease renews every 30 minutes. Those days are 'the suck' because it really interfers with my desktop on LAN as I work from home. Every 30 minutes where I get disconnected/paused for about 5 seconds before traffic flows again. Very frustrating if I'm on a Microsoft Teams call as I miss out on 5 seconds of discussion, or people pointing out I disconnected if I'm the one speaking.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

@iielmesswavy those entries in the log files aren't actually DDoS attacks but rather connections you've come in contact with. More likely it was the DHCP issue being investigated.

@mardock2009 that firmware doesn't have any changes on our side, it is one Tim created purely for the DHCP issues.

I'm not the person you're replying to, but I also noticed DDoS attacks in the log and the CPU on my XR500 was locked at 100% until I rebooted it. I'm assuming it was an actual DDoS attack.

The only reason I discovered it was because the internet was unbareably slow/inconcistent so I checked the router and looked at the logs after seeing the high CPU.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR500)

@ep2015 if it was a legitimate DDoS attack then rebooting the router wouldn't have necessarily resolved the issue.
