Slow XR1000 Wifi - Solid LAN
Evening All-
I am at a loss as to what the bottleneck is. I need suggestions.
1) My previous wi-fi router was wrecked by lightning earlier this week - it would speedtest on Ookla around 450d/80u (just above what I pay for). The router would no longer broadcast 2.4/5g signals
2) I replaced this router with an XR1000 - the setup went fine but I only speed test around 89d/60u no matter what I do.
3) I connected hardwire LAN and it rips right up to 480d/100u so I know the modem and router are capable, it's only the wi-fi side that is bottlenecked.
I have tried:
-Reset the distribution (which came out of the box)
-Shared excess is on for both application and devices
-2.4 and 5g have the same results - capped right at 89mbit
-Smart connect is NOT enabled
-The router reads during Wizard setup that internet server is 489/100 so I know the router knows the capable speeds.
-Router is 10' from computer.
-Router is current with firmware (XR1000 1.0.0.64_1.0.49)
-Netgear Armor is active best I can tell
What do I have to do to 'un-cap' the wifi speeds? My previous Asus router could do it, I know the Netgear sees it, but somehow it's still limited in it's distributed speed.
Looking for additional things to try
Thank you!
Benjamin

Re: Slow XR1000 Wifi - Solid LAN
I believe I have this sorted out. I am unsure what fixed the speeds but they have corrected themselves.
One of the following fixed my issue:
- I ran through the setup wizard again on the DumaOS / Settings
- I updated the known internet speeds
- I changed the 5g channel to 44 (under settings / wireless setup).
I am now getting 500d/100u which is slightly more than my service tier.
Thank you-
Benjamin
