UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

What's up !!!
After months testing the XR500 i found an insane problem... auto ping shows you the tick rate of the lobby and yours... well... my XR500 is NOT ABLE to keep a stable tick rate of 150 Kbps... not Mbps or Gbps... Kbps !!! Once in a while i'm lucky and it handle it like a Boss and when that happen it's paradise gaming !!! Last night i been lucky enough to enjoy it a bit more than an hour...it was amazing !!! No settings changed and staying on the same dedi...just watching the ping and tickrate and taking screenshots of it while playing... then it started to bug again like it is 99% of time since i bought it days before christmas !!!
Explanations of that huge problem:
1 second you have the full tickrate and next second you have less than half of it...then it goes again and again with 1 sec full tickrate and next second half tickrate...all that while the ping stay stable !!! It's exactly like you're running then someone hold you for a sec then relaese you...then 1 sec later again he hold you then relase then hold then release...all while you runnin...!!! You still run but at full speed only 1 sec then on slow mow then full speed again then slower ...!!!
Each and every time when it does that...the game looks like lagging or shoot first die first or more recoil or you never on the target but ohhhh so they're on you !!! Reason is that...like i explained them years ago on netduma's forum... To play Online Multiplayer you only need around 150kbps in both ways aka down and up... you may succeed in playing at around 100Kbps if it stays stable...like right now with the Netduma R1 !!! So when my XR500 have full tickrate it gives over 200Kbps on download aka host tickrate and over 150Kbps on upload aka client tickrate...and it's flawless when it stays like that because it has a bit more than needed by the game so you kinda play like a god !!! Every bullets register...you always on targets...never shoot first die first ect !!! In BO4 i succeeded in 2 flawless match with 55/0 aka ratio of 55 and 44/0 aka ratio of 44 !!!...all while my XR500 was stable !!! Last night while my XR500 was stable i made 66/3 with the Kap45 runnin like a ninja as always 😂 !!! So no one can say i'm not good and i'm the problem 😝😂 !!! I run a full Cat8 setup with Optical Fiber Hdmi 2.1 with wired controller with wired Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 and GOW Ps4 Pro on a Premium UN55NU8000 while my competition 1ms benq sleeps👽😎🍻 !!! Not only that...my R1 is on my friend house setup...also full Cat 8 and OF hdmi 2.1 and wired controller also as wired Astro a40 and og ps4 on a Premium UN55MU8000 !!! Last week she bring my old R1 so i can test further... on same dedi (all the ones blocked on my xr500 she block them too so it was easy to test since over 20 dedis are blocked even if only new jersey is surrounded...caused by broken geo filter map + cloud and the fact they remove Montreal from the map days after Bo4 launch...but that's another problem !!) so on the same line aka a 7ms vdsl2 line... tested both xr500 and R1 with AIO in full bridge + in default aio mode !!! So same line same settings same dedi and same setup ... XR500 unstable while R1 is stable on all dedis !!! R1 upload between 90 and 120 Kbps while download is around 200Kbps... and mostly upload stays real close to 100 Kbps from begin to end of match !!!
When Xr500 is stable the upload is always around 150Kbps...lower is 120Kbps ...it's flawless gaming like suposed to be !!! But since it is always unstable...it drops around 60-70 Kbps on upload only...so since the download stay higher than 150Kbps at that time...what others do comes to you like it should but what you do don't register like it needs to...so on your screen you shot first...while ya xr500 was on the low 60some Kbps and then boom it comes back to full bandwith so it now try to register what ya've done on the server but the server tells your setup that you're late cuz he didn't bug like you so he tells you here is what happen and he push that on your screen... so on ya screen you see a kind of lag or something that did not happen like a dude was on your right side but then kinda reappears on your left...you hit direct on the target but got kill and it appears that you wasn't on the target...ect ect ect !!!
For those who don't know yet... Your console runs the game entirely so even if internet lags or bug you still play and except on real lines problems...ya won't feel thoses internet problems while playing !!! 2e: now when you do some in the game...while playin online...it have to register aka tells what you did to the server...the server also have to tells you what others did... so if your tickrate is full you comunicate properly in real time and simultaneously with the server tellin you what happen on the other side...so everything is flawless and what you see is really what happen !!! But if your tickrate drops...then since the download stay higher than 150Kbps... others will hit you like a train... cause you shot first but your setup didn't told that to the server since your client tickrate aka upload rate dropped to around 60Kbps...then while it dropped it didn't updated you on what happened...so it came back to full tickrate so then it upload what ya did and the server reminds you that you're late and you missed that and that so it then refresh you to real time so on your screen it kinda looks like a lag or magical **bleep** that happen but in fact it's not...your setup just didn't comunicate in real time like it should and need !!!

So conclusion for this problem... i tested 3 modems and aio... confirmed that my line is flawless...tested both ways of setup aka xr500 and R1 in ppp0e also as in normal router mode...also with XR500 and R1 in aio's dmz... did 5 factory resets on both routers also as on modem and aio's .... tried cat7 and even cat6 to see if my cat8 cables was the problem... tried every possible ways of setting things up like with auto ps4 internet config instead of my manual setup...also tried enabling/disabling each duma os settings while performing tests after rebooting the routers after changing any settings !!! I manage and regularly test my dns server and only use 1 which is the optimal one...so no ways i can switch from one dns to another between two match provoking a different gameplay !!! Tried rolling back to earlier os version but same thing happen !!! Rolled back aio firmware too and same thing happen as my line still flawless but XR500 is not !!!
R1 is stable on the same setup even if it handle less bandwith (and that's the reason we feel a difference versus XR500 cause XR500 handle more bandwith when stable and hell yeah it makes a huge difference in gameplay even if 50Kbps looks so tiny)!!!

Please note that i'm always fully open on ps4 and in games and even on both ps4 simultaneously !!! And YES i can tell how to do it properly !!!

Is it a real Isolated problem meaning it's just mine that is defective or it's doin that for everybody ???
Can you guys having BO4 and XR500 test on two or 3 different dedis while looking at auto ping panel on your duma os to see if it stays stable or if it fluctuates each seconds ??? Please !!! Just start a match then the auto ping should show up...if not just refresh the page and it will...of course if auto ping is on 😝😂😉 !!!

PROBLEM 2 :
My XR500 wrongly detect tv's and always show them with a red light meaning they in sleep mode !!! Can't access most vids sites or play simple previews when qos is on...have to disable qos to enjoy internet on tv's...but not netflix app or youtube app...just using internet browser on tv browsing normal webpages...not even talking about xhamster or pornhub or youporn (go on any of theses sites, click a vid so it change the webpage then load the proper page with the vid you choosed...first it won't start and if you scroll down the page ya'll see other choices of vids related...then just put cursor over one of them...it should start the preview instantly but it won't !!! Now duma os with another device not with your tv and disable qos and accept and refresh the tv webpage you're on...now your vid should start and if you scroll down and put again the cursor on the previous vid you wanted to see the preview...then the preview will play instantly !!!) ...simple video preview from XR500 on bestbuy.ca webpage never load while qos is on...close qos then refresh the page and boom everything work like it should so previews starts right away !!! It does that both lan and wifi !!! Also i tried hooking the tv on a gig switch...the XR500 detect the switch as On with a green light like suposed to...and it's a good start...but still same problem using internet browser on premium 4k tvs !!! Tried tv factory resets... exchanged this nu8000 4 times in 2 weeks in december 2018 cause was thinkin tv was the problem but nope problem is XR500 !!! I even forgot there is a 4k xxx site where i was watchin 4k vids flawlessly with my ROG GT 5300 router that i sold to get that XR500 instead...well it's one of the first thing i tested and boom...impossible to watch in 4k anymore...max allowed is 1080p...i mean i can select 4k...it then try to load and boom an error message tellin my setup can't do that...like ah ah ah... 😭😭😭 !!! Removed XR500... factory reset aio cause ain't got choice after putting them in bridge...then it's all good with the same vidz on the same sites on the same line on the same premium 2018 4k tv... just like it was with Asus ROG GT AC5300 !!!

So since i already know that a lot of peeps are having trouble with that too... is there a fix in progress ??? Are you having solutions for that like a new firmware ???

Also guys if you have 4k tvs can you test that and report here please ??!!!

Thanks for taking your time to help !!!
Take care... Peeeaace !!! DMC 👽🍻

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

Hi DMC,

Which tickrate are you referring to specifically? Host tickrate or Client tickrate?

And which games are you measuring this on? Just BO4?

Please could you keep your response short, as it's quite overwelming to read through that much text!

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

Ohhhh boy that's another shame...!!! I am not the dumb guy who made this site so it's not my fault if we can't upload pics directly on our posts like we can on netduma's forum ... But still there is 37 pics on my account here...in a public folder... so since you seems to not know how to see them i'll explain to you ...click on my name so it will bring you in my account...scroll down a bit and voilà you see the pics !!! At least since you working with netgear you should already knows that...or at least you could ask them so you don't look like you a noob !!!

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

Thanks, had a look through the images.

Honestly, not sure if there's anything to be worried about there. Send and receive rates fluctuate depending on what's happening within the game. For example, if you're near a lot of other players and a lot of action is happening, it will spike.

If you're having an inconsistent experience, I don't think it's because of this.

Are you finding the pings consistent across each game?

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

There is absolutely no need to be rude. Those ping statistics are simply reporting what is happening, unless you've severely throttled your speeds then it the router is not affecting the rate. When the receive rate is low then so is the send rate. It's dependent on the server you're playing on at that time. Could be lots of variables affecting this, time of day, server load etc. If when it is low you're having a bad experience I'd suggest you use the Geo-Filter to force a different server that plays better for you.

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

No need to rma since... last Friday i bought another XR500 from another retailer to see the differences and to confirm if mine is defective or not...so i have 2 XR500 under the hands right now...mine that i bought in December and the new one that i'll return ... and sadly both have the same problems so i really doubt now that mine is defective...even if mine seems to be a refurbish one and the new one did confirm it to me !!! They perform exactly the same on 2 different lines aka my vdsl2 and a cable line !!!
Fraser... No i don't throttle my connection !!! I tried with every settings... example: 70/70 and higher also as lower values...share excess on and off...removing all other devices...factory resets...firmware downgrade then factory then tests then upgrade then factory then tests ...also tried 1 factory reste...2...3....4...and 5 factory resets then setting things up and tests !!! Tried auto config and manual config...tried all your auto options... Ect ect ect !!! Not only that...i also tested the R1 on both lines...also with all options...factory resets ect ect ect and the R1 is STABLE on both lines whatever what we do with settings !!! On the same exact dedicated servers ect !!!

How will you guys explain that the R1 is stable on every dedis on every games ect while the beast XR500 is not ??? You can't !!!

As for the dedis... You guys removed Montreal from the map for BO4... so the nearest dedis is 600 some km away and it's New Jersey...it sucks because it's already too far and never play good on it...but since your cloud is messed up there is over 20 different dedis on this location so we already playin on more dedis !!! But even then it's not enough so we tried every USA dedis and it's just worst !!! More ironicaly the Montreal dedis are still there and it's way better even with the XR500 drops...on the 3 vids i've just uploaded to youtube she is playin on WW2 Montreal dedi and same drops happen !!!
On the vids i also show you guys that both ps4 are open nat...1 playin while i enter in the same WW2 game on second ps4...showin that it still stable (cause YES i captured proof of when it's Stable so you guys will clearly see how it act when stable and when unstable) then i start the computer and as soon as the computer loads in windows you see the drops happening ...then i close my ps4 and boom it come back to stable while the computer still runnin so no it's not the computer that cause thoses drops !!!

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

Auto ping is purely reporting those values, it is not affecting them. I wouldn't advise accessing the interface on mobile, it is not optimized for it. That could be a factor or as I mentioned the servers you're connecting to in which case there will be other servers that perform better. Games are perfectly able to play at those kbps values, I've provided a screenshot from a video we created years ago showing this. Granted it is for an older CoD but I doubt this has changed much. If your QoS and Geo-Filter is setup correctly then the values are not being affected by the router.

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

Ah ah ah !!! Once again you didn't read properly and didn't watch the complete 3 vids !!! I am NOT saying that Auto ping cause the problem...i'm sayin it help us confirming what we deal with !!! The problem is either on Duma Os or directly on Netgear's XR500 but there is a problem !!! I repeat that the Netduma R1 is STABLE on both setups and on every games and on all dedicated servers !!! Only thing that is normal is ping fluctuations and that happen on both R1 and XR500 !!! As i mentioned even in the vids I am not complaining about occasional drops and hella not about fluctuations because it is normal !!! What is not normal is half the bandwith dropping each 2 seconds aka 1 second full bandwith and next it drops by half and lower than acceptable values !!! While it NEVER do this on R1 with duma os !!!
And as always guys... i am not trying to diss you Netduma or Netgear... i'm just tired of that non sens and i like other customers deserve to fully enjoy our investment in your products !!!
I'm pointing out once again a real problem so instead of trying to dismiss what we say you should try to look where the problem really is because there is a problem !!!

The fact that you still pretend it's normal behavior while i also have proofs that the R1 is stable while the XR500 is not... is pathetic !!!

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

I forgot to mention the lan problem which i think is related...
Premium Samsung 4k tv's are wrongly detected by duma os...with wrong name and type of device...but that's not even the problem...problem is the light is red on XR500 meaning tv is in sleep mode...even while the tv is open and on internet !!! Have to disable qos to enjoy internet browsing on our smart tvs !!! No need of disabling the qos if you on a computer since everything is flawless...but not on tvs !!! It is on our tvs when we change router like with the ROG GT AC5300...everything is properly detected and browsing is flawless... same with isp's aio's... but not with XR500 and R1 !!!
I already talked about that but then again you dismissed it...anyways still i can give more details once again !!!
And of course yes it do that on both XR500 that i have under the hands right now and also on R1 !!!
Samsung models are UN55MU8000 and UN55NU8000 !!!
Also i disabled the stay awake option on both tvs even if no need to do so with other routers !!!

Re: UNSTABLE TICKRATE and lan problems

Difference between R1 and XR500 is that you could be connecting to different servers. They have lots in the same location, if the ID is not exactly the same then it is a different server. If your settings are perfectly mirrored on both routers then there is nothing the router is doing to cause this. As I mentioned as well the game is perfectly capable at running that kbps rate. If lower their send rate and receive rate momentarily then there is nothing the router can do.

Not sure why you would need to disable QoS just when using the TVs, what are your QoS settings? When you turn the TVs off are they in a standby mode?
