XR700 is not supporting 900Mb+- on the WAN to LAN test

So using the following simple test method and test program, I'm not seeing anything near 900mbps on the WAN to LAN test. 

 

 

Seems like the HW NAT accelleration or Cut-Through that should be working on this router, isn't. This test is using the WAN port. I don't have any support for the SPF+ port.

I report earlier this issue and I though I was the only who had this WAN Port not reaching the Gigabit speed on my XR700. Thank you for validating this problem with your WAN to LAN test!

How were the speed tests done? If you used other platforms did they report the same?

Is PPPoE/VLAN/IPv6 being used?

This is only to test WAN to LAN with no specialized configurations. Just a factory reset on the router with minimal setup using default settings only. I disabled WiFi since there is a easy access button for this.

As you are able to do that test would you be able to repeat it using iPerf? That is what we (Netduma) use to test in the office.

I would presume results would be the same. I've tested with this more simplified program with other routers to compare. 

Does NetDuma see same or similar speed results in there testing with the XR700?

Looks like you were only using 1 thread for that is that correct? You'll get slower speeds that way, try with 4 and you should see higher speeds.

That's odd, are your ethernet cables compatible with gigabit?

Put 1000/1000 in QoS and set to never and try again. Then also disable QoS completely in Anti-BB settings and try that.

I run only CAT6 LAN cables. Same cables that tested the XR450 and other routers.

Those settings are default already after doing a factory reset. We expect routers to handle 900Mbps +- at factory defaults.

Thanks for that, I believe iPerf will be slower as we use very specific commands for that to ensure it operates optimally. The team are aware now so hopefully they can reproduce the issue.

I need to make a small correction with my initial test results. 

Those initial iPerf test results posted were testing the uplink speed of the WAN port. I wasn't paying attention when the test was running however looking at a network speed meter I have on my test PCs they show which direction the data flow is going, Up or DL. I didn't relize that the configuration of the PC thru the router and switch and how iPerf works and I had it configured, it seems having the iPerf Server configured on the PC thats connected to the switch and the iPerf client PC connected to the router under test, the direction of data flow is for the UP link speed. Changing the iPerf settings on the PC thats connected to the LAN switch to Client and the PC thats connected to the router under test to Server, this sends the data flow as DOWNLOAD link speed. 

 

So after checking things again, I reset the XR router again and ensured the PCs and iPerf was confgured for the DOWNLOAD speed test. Still not seeing anything close to 900mpbs unfortunately.

I saw another interesting thing too in the setup wizard at the Checking internet speed on the WAN Port, the speedtest can read the correct speed at 940Mbps/50Mbps and sometime is totally way off. Once the setup is done and you redo a speed test, you can't get the gigabit speed on ISP speed test or speedtest.net.
