Can't get more speed from Xfinity

Hello:

I have a C7000V2 Gateway that runs fine.  Recently I upgraded to the 800Mbs package from Xfinity but I'm not seeing any change in speed.  Max I can get is around 118Mbs.  Xfinity checked it out and said they are fine on their end - that it must be a modem problem.  I'm at firmware level 1.03.03.  I've done all the restarts, etc.  Is there anything I need to do on my end to get the additional speed?

Thanks.

  • Glad you got it up and working properly!

Thanks for updating us and letting us know what the actual problem was.

You can mark it as solved and it might help the next person with that issue.

A couple things. How are you testing that speed? Wired? 2.4ghz? 5ghz?

That's the key. 118mbps over 2.4ghz is pretty good. Over 5ghz it depends on the device you're testing on.

On wired, you should be faster.

so how are you testing speeds?

      Hello:

      I'm on a 5ghz wi-fi network.  Comcast speed I'm paying for is 800Mbs.  I realize I won't get that but I think I should be getting more than 118Mbs.

      Thanks.

what speed do you get wired?
do you have a screen snip of the cable connections page and event log?

Did you reset/reconfigure the modem/router after the upgrade?

The new service may have different settings that you need to tell your C7000V2 to forget.

If you need more help for your hardware, try the appropriate section:

    Cable Modems & Routers

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
