HAving a hard time to access my router from workplace

I receantly bought the Nighthawk R6700 for my home network and I'm trying to do something as simple as allowing remote access to the router from my workplace.
I followed the directions by a) enabling remote access, b) entering the range of IPs at my workplace, and picked the default ports (tried both, 8443 and 8080). However, I get a "site can't be reached" error when I try the suggested remote management access address, i.e. xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8443. I have tried Firefox, Chome and Safari form a couple of computers in the IP range without luck. I don't remember having any issues using my old Netgear N600 doing the same. Any ideas? Thanks.

Is that accurate? Not an R6700v2 or R6700v3? Look for "Model" on
the product label. Firmware version? Connected to what?
> [...] b) entering the range of IPs at my workplace, [...]
I'd try it without that limitation. How do you know what "the range
of IPs at my workplace" might be? What are those addresses?
> [...] xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8443. [...]
Did you include the "https://"?
Is "xx.xxx.xxx.xxx" the address of the WAN/Internet interface on the
router?
Some clue as to what "xx.xxx.xxx.xxx" might be might be helpful.
If you're worried about revealing secrets, then the top half of an
address, "a.b" out of "a.b.c.d", would satisfy most of my curiosity. If
it starts with "192.168.", then there's no reason to hide any of it.
What happens if you try the same stuff from a system on your LAN?
