Netgear Nighthawk R7000?
I currently use the ISP's wireless router on my 500mbs broadband. Over 5GHz band the best I get about 3m and a wall away is 150mbs which plunges to 15mbs or so at times.
Would a Nighthawk R7000 improve speed?

Over what? Some of the non-psychics in your audience know nothing
about your (unspecified) "the ISP's wireless router", or what's behind
your walls. Based on what, exactly, did you expect anyone to answer
your query?
Also, "m" = "milli" = 1/1000. "M" = "mega" = 1000000. And a speed
is "per unit time", so "Mb/s", not "mbs".

Wifi speeds depend on the wifi client as much as the source of the wifi.
Does the client device you are using get much faster wifi somewhere else, with a different wifi source? What about other wifi clients?
Remember, 5 GHz wifi is faster, but it has a shorter range. So it isn't surprising that it drops off as you move away.
Where possible, a wired connection always beats wifi.
