Netgear nighthawk 8000 X6S AC4000 Tri-band router will not allow internet connection after Metronet

Please help me!! I had Metronet internet install a few days ago, been working fine until yesterday, tv and internet got glitches, moving slow. Today nothing is working, called Metronet, the modem is working fine, but router is displaying internet connection ( led turns white after being amber for a few seconds ), but I don't have internet on my devices. Attempted several factory resetting, but it won't load firmware updates and allow me to get internet at all. Is there anything I can do to get it working, or do I need to replace the router?

Reached out to Netgear tech support, heard nothing. I'm not tech savvy at all, I tried the owners manual troubleshooting, but I get lost in the wording. Any help you can give will be great!

What is that modem?

These days ISPs like to provide "modems" that are also routers. When they do that you can have problems when you add your own router.

I assume that the "8000" is an R8000P and not the R8000 or even something else.

There is a row of LEDs on the router. Which ones are we talking about as turning white? Power and Internet?

What are you using to get on to the Internet and what messages do you see?

A wired device? A browser? WiFi? A PC? A mobile phone?

but it won't load firmware updates

How and why are you trying to update the firmware? The best option is with a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI).

The 8000 routers are now pretty old. They date back to 2015 and 2017. You'll have to pay Netgear for support. This place is free.

Whatever you do, don't call one of those numbers that comes up in a web search. It is likely to be a scam.
