Port forwarding not working R7000

Hello,

I am having trouble getting Port Forwarding working on my AC1750 router. It seems to be a software issue with it. I am not able to add ports, or computers, or anything to the Port Forwarding/ Port Triggering list. When I try to add one it seems to just glitch out and not add it. Attached below I have a recording of what is going on.

I am trying to port a Plex Media Server, using port 32400 on a static IP with Windows 10. My cable modem is a motorola.

Great suggestions.

I flashed my router with DD-WRT firmware and everything worked as expected re port forwarding.

Flashed back to stock firmware, and now that's working too.  Don't know why, but glat its working now regardless.

Hi pwatkins30,

1. What is the firmware version of the router? Make sure to update it.

2. If it is updated, reset the router to factory default and manually reconfigure.

OP has a R6700 not a R7000.  The firmware version is visible in the video.  It's 1.0.1.16_10.0.30.

Re: Port forwarding not working R7000

Same issue on my r7000.  Port forwarding not working.  It used to.   I have static IP's assigned by the router to various IP's on my network via MAC address.   Ports are forwarded, FTP on one PC, remote desktop port on another, and so on.  All no longer working.  I triple checked the config, it is right.  Turned off all Windows firewalls etc.  No dice.  Been using online port checkers to verify my ports are in fact blocked.  They are.

Updated firmware to   V1.0.7.10_1.2.3.  Still everything is blocked.  So frustrating!

Re: Port forwarding not working R7000

I reset the router to factory default settings.  Manually reentered the DHCP assignment and forwarded the port to said internal IP.  Disabled Windows Firewall on that machine.

Checked with port checker on the machine the port is forwarded to.  PORT STILL CLOSED

WTH???  Why is port forwarding BROKEN on my router?????

This is so frustrating!

Hi SteelGlaze,

While doing port checker, make sure the app that uses the port is running. Also if you bypass the router, will it work?

Re: Port forwarding not working R7000

I tried the earlier version firmare 1.0.8.34, but no dice again.  So where can I find the original factory firmware, DD-WRT?  It's not listed in the Netgear software and firmware downloads page.

First, you might do better in this forum if you opened a new thread
and described your own problem, rather than awakening some old thread
which might be vaguely related (and which is marked as solved).

As a basic Web search would show, DD-WRT is not "the original factory
firmware" for a typical Netgear product.
