R6700v3 bricked by firmware update?

Dear all,

my wifi (R6700v3 as access point) was a bit unstable recently and devices had sometimes problems connecting to it. While having a look at the settings via the browser, I noticed that there's a new firmware available, selected to install it and came back after half an hour.

Now the router seems to be completely bricked. It can't be accessed via ethernet and the wifi network is not visible. The power LED blinks slowly in orange which indicates a corrupted firmware (according to the manual).

A restart and a factory reset didn't change that.

I tried to put on a downloaded firmware via TFTP as discribed here: https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP?langu...

This didn't work. The power LED doesn't start flashing when powering up the device while the reset button is pressed, like it is written in step 10. I tried to send the firmware anyway with TFTP while the LED wasn't flashing, but this didn't change anything.

Any solutions?

Thanks a lot in advance!

You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide. Sometimes it can take a few times of trying it as its sensitive to timings.

just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

Re: R6700v3 bricked by firmware update?

OP stated that their router's power LED would not begin to flash after reboot as stated in Step 10. I am having the exact same issue, power LED goes from solid orange to solid white/blue. Any fix yet here?

@JeanValjean7 usually if its going blue/white, its booted.

Can you ping in on a lan port?

As @plemans says, that indicates that the router has booted as expected.

What do the other LEDs look like?

What problems do you have?
