R7000 openVPN error

The OpenVPN application was updated through Android store recently. Since then, I'm unable to connect and it throws an error saying I have an invalid certificate. I deleted the profile and reinstalled the certificate from the router again but the error returns. Do we need an update on the router as well for the VPN to work again?

The error is:
OpenVPN server certificate verification failed : mbed TLS: SSL read error : X509 - Certificate verification failed, eg CRL, CA or signature check failed.
