R7800 Remote control & Netgear downloader

I have a router: R7800 — Nighthawk X4S AC2600

Since last update I can`t find "Remote control" option.
The seconf problem is "Netgear Downloader": when I starting download something, I have info: "Condidtion: waiting", and so on endlessly.

What can I do?

Thank you for help

Netgear has removed several features since it released this router.

Remote management died on security grounds.

Why is the Remote Management feature being removed from NETGEAR routers? - NETGEAR Support

The only "Remote control" officially supported is through the Nighthawk app.

Not sure about "Netgear Downloader". Did it ever make it out of beta stage?

I do know that anything that relied on ReadyCLOUD is also defunct.

"Did it ever make it out of beta stage?"

No 😕 It was always "Beta stage"

"I do know that anything that relied on ReadyCLOUD is also defunct."

You have right, unfortunatelly 😕 ReadyCOUD works only in local nertwork, you can use a VPN also to connect to router and your cloud

"What are you trying to achieve?"

Nothing special, I just wanted to restore the original functionality I paid for 🙂

Thank you for your help

Netgear might try to wriggle out of that one and say that those extras were free addons. You bought a router. You got a router. That still works. At least, mine does.

A lot has changed since the launch of the R7800 in 2016.

Another "free" feature that died is parental controls.

Open DNS backed out of the Netgear collaboration on free parental controls some time ago.

Again there are ways of keeping that going but, like the rest of the IT industry, Netgear has gone down the "service" route and has added all manner of stuff that you have to pay for.
