trying to use extra Nighthawk R7000/AC1900 router to get wifi to TV

I am trying to use my Nighthawk R7000/AC1900 router to connect my Smart TV (without wifi) to my home network.  The TV is located upstairs, away from my Comcast Gateway so running an ethernet cable from the gateway to the TV is not an option.  My highly limited understanding is that I can use the NetGear router as a wireless client, and plug the TV into the ethernet port on the NetGear.  I'm obviously a noob, and I am confused by the terminology I find online.  Do I need a bridge, an extender, a repeater, an access point, or ...?  I tried following the instructions in the user manual for creating an access point, but it seems to assume my other router (my Comcast Gateway) is a NetGear product because it tells me to log in to routerlogin.net.  It also is not clear whether I need to keep the NetGear hard-wired to the gateway after setup is complete.  Any help is appreciated...

Sadly, I have no actual experience with this mode on an R7000, so I
know nothing, and I don't have a suitable experimental unit.  Are you on
the ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings page?  Have you done
the "setup bridge mode wireless settings" stuff?  If the R7000 is to act
as a wireless client, then you need to give it all the wireless-network
parameters which it will need to join the wireless network of the main
(wireless) router.  You may need to consult the settings of that gizmo

to see what's needed on the R7000.

Not relevant.  That's on the WAN side of real-router mode.

The basic wireless settings are also for real-router mode.  The
wireless settings for bridge mode are separate, and are set in that
"setup bridge mode wireless settings" panel.  (I believe.)

Nah.  If you're talking to the router's web site, then you've
satisfied it as to your personal worth.

Sounds to me like a wireless bridge.  Look for "Set Up the Router in
Bridge Mode" in the User Manual.

   Not before or after.

I'd probably start by resetting the R7000.  Then, connect (only) some
computer to any of its LAN ports, and use its web-browser interface to
do the bridge-mode configuration.  At that point you should be able to
connect the computer to your main wireless network using your new
(R7000) bridge.  If that works, then connecting the TV to the R7000
should also work.  (And you can disconnect the computer from the R7000.)

   What could go wrong?

First of all, thanks for the help.

I reset the router, logged in, and went to Bridge Mode.  I see where I can set it to Bridge Mode, but when I do, the Apply button remains disabled.  Nothing happens when I click on it.  There is also a menu option called VLAN / Bridge Settings.  Same issue there; I make changes and click on Apply, but nothing happens.  I also tried changing basic wireless setup, but the Apply button remains disabled.  I was required to reset the admin password when I logged on, so I assume it's not a permissions issue. Any thoughts on that?

If all else fails, I solved that problem with a pair of Powerline plugs.

They turn your mains circuit into an Ethernet network. Even with the investment in the extra router, this might be worth considering. A TV will work fine with older generation, and hence cheaper, plugs.

Powerline Networking | Powerline Ethernet | NETGEAR

I managed to get it up and running, thanks to your help.  I resolved my disabled button issue by switching browsers from Chrome to Edge.

Thanks again for the assist!
