Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
my Night Hawk MR60 with two satellites was behaving properly giving me as expected internet speeds, however not sure when it happened but definitely between October 2023 and January 2024, the maximum speed it's giving me is only 90MBPS, whilst my provider is reacing 520 MBPS.
any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, previous cases, anything anyone that can help?
I have done almost everything imaginable and yes, my ISP modem is giving the 520 with a wire directly to my laptop.
please help and thanks

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
You might log into the router and find out if its connecting at gigabit speeds or only 10/100mbps speeds.

A sketchy cable can cause that. Or bad port/dirty port.

Re: Nigh hawk MR60 dropping internet speed,
it is provided by Spectrum in the US and model is ET2251, docsis 3.1 eMTA, which is a brand new one as i asked the ISP to swap it to prevent the old one was having issues.

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
so its only connecting at 100mbps speeds.
Try replacing the cable between the modem and the router. Make sure to use a good quality cat 5e or cat 6 cable.
Whats connected the lan port as its only connect at 100mbps speeds too.

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
How about powering OFF the ISP modem and MR for 1 minute then back ON with the modem first, then the MR. Then check the WAN Port speed on the MR.

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
when you checked your speed, did you check the wan statistics? Like I said, both the PC and the wan were connecting at 100mbps speeds. They both need to be gigabit to hit gig speeds

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
restart done on both and no luck, still at 100
I am running the latest firmware in the MR, cables are 5e.
would a factory reset in the MR help in your opinion?

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
You can try the factory reset. Also try upgrading to cat 6 cables. Cat 5e are usually fine but if you got a sketchy batch of them it could that

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
This does lead to the impression that the Ethernet connection connecting to the cable modem or ISP CPE had re-negotiated to just 100 Mb/s (has lost one of the additional copper pairs), e.g. due to a cabling or contact problem.
Cumbersome? These MR50/MS60 are so basic, there are no Ethernet link indicators, neiter LEDs nor on the Web UI. Does the cable modem or CPE have LED indicators showing the current negotiated speed (along with the "activity" flashing)?

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
Soething to test if you have a 2nd wired PC or laptop with a ethernet connection, or for a quick test, connect a MS satellite using it's LAN port to the WAN port on the MR, then with one wired PC connected to the MR, log in and check the WAN port satus to see if the speed is still at 100 or 1000Mbps? If a 2nd PC, laptop or the MS that is supporting of 1000Mpbs, if connected to the WAN port on the MR, should show 1000Mpbs. If it doesn't then possible the MRs WAN port is not working correctly anymore.

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
yes the modem has a couple of leds in the ethernet connector, it is flashing orange which to my understanding it means that the modem is transmitting at higher speeds, it also has a green led but this one is permanently off.
I am at a loss then...i hate to pay another 300 or 400 bucks to replace this MR60

So as to confirm the laptop connected to the MR, it reports 100Mpbs on the WAN port?

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
Can connect the laptop directly to the ISP modem and see if it sees the connection at 100 or 1000Mbps.
That shows the WAN port at 100Mpbs...with the laptop connected to the MR WAN Port?

Re: Nighthawk MR60 dropping internet speed
Something else to try, if you have a family member, friend or neighbor, take the MR to there place and connect it to there ISP equipment and check the WAN port speed. If you have this option.
