CCTV not connecting via Wifi

I have just replaced my old router with the R7000 and cant get my CCTV to connect on the wifi.

It will connect via cable but once the cable is disconnected I cant see the camera on the Connected Devices list.

With the previous router, to connect a camera I just pluggedit in via a cat5 cable, it detected the camera and I got the video feed and then just disconnected the cable and it would transition to wifi.

What I also noticed on the old router is that it could see both MAC addresses for wifi and cable and when the cable was disconnected the IP address would flick across to the wifi MAC.

My Nighhawk cant even see the camera's wifi and wont see the camera unless its  plugged in.

CCTV are cheapo Szsinocam 1MP and on the PC I am running iSpy.

Am I missing something? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Did you configure the R7000 with the same wireless-network
credentials (SSID, passphrase) as your (unspecified) "my old router"?
(For the 2.4GHz band, I'll guess?)

Thanks for that detailed description.  Even most cheap-Chinese junk
has a model number.

Configuring the cameras' wireless-network credentials to agree with
those of the R7000?  (Or vice versa.)

Have you any other wireless devices which work or don't?

Yes same SSID and passphrase. Everything else in the house connected automatically.

Model of the Szsinocam is 1.0 MP IP Camera, SN IPC 5033SW AU

Just strange everything else works but these two cameras.

Did you try a reset of the cameras and building the connection from scratch?

Re: CCTV not connecting via Wifi

Yeah tried all that. Its funny but the new network is 192. and the old network was a 10. One of the cameras that I didnt setup on the new router can be detected by the router at a 10. but the one I physically connected has a new 192 IP but only works when connected and on wifi the router cant see it.

Something funny going on.

That can be a sign of two routers on the network. Often it is a modem/router in front of a router.

By default a router allocates itself 192.168.1.1 on setup. If it finds something "upwind" it will opt for 10.0.0.0.

What is your modem?

Yup.  You need to find and identify all your equipment and figure out
who's connected to what.  As suggested before, descriptions more precise
than "my old router" might help.

Huh?  "detected"?  "see"?  What, exactly, are you doing?  What,
exactly, are you seeing where/how?

Re: CCTV not connecting via Wifi

The main modem that connects to NBN is my old iiNet one. A Technicolor TG789vac v3. Wireless has been turned off on that. The Nighthawk is connected to that and everything on the network goes through the Nighthawk and is the only device connected to the Technicolor modem.

The more I think about it, it is somethng in the camera that doesnt like the router. Ive changed routers before without these issues.

I might get a new camera and see if its just that. They need replacing soon anyway so maybe just do that now.

Re: CCTV not connecting via Wifi

Sorry, reread your question, the Nighthawk is 192.... and the Technicolor is 10.1...... so other way around to what you said. Does that make a difference?

   That's a modem+router, not a "modem".

Disabling the wireless-network radios on a wireless router does not
stop it from being a router.

Ok.  If the TG789vac v3 has a true modem-only mode, then you could
configure it that way, and use the R7000 as your only router.  If you
can't disable the router in the TG789vac v3, then you could configure
the R7000 as a wireless access point (as described in its User Manual).
Either way, you'd be left with one router, and one LAN IP address
subnet.

> [...] Does that make a difference?

Just the fact that they're different says that you have two routers.

But, although cascading multiple routers can cause problems with
Internet access, I would not expect those kinds of problems to prevent a
camera from connecting to the R7000 wireless stuff.

What's the firmware version on the R7000?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads.  (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".)  Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want.  Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions.  (In the User Manual, look for "firmware", and,
especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the Router".)
When that fails because of a deficient User Manual, try:
