Installed new router today. Connected to my modem. Ethernet cable to my Laptop attached. All lights indicating white. Received "Authentication Error". Logged in repeatedly with ID and password. Still same error msg. I also received that a Firmware update is required to my router. Is this required to get the router working? It still has not connected. I have downloaded the user manual to find out how to install firmware. I have also downloaded the extracted firmware update to my laptop, but unable to bring up "Router Login" to install firmware. Ben trying to get this to work for hours. Exasperating.

"Logged in" how, exactly, using _which "ID and password"?

Good. Look for "Types of Logins". Also "Factory Settings" or
"Reset".

Oops. We have all made head slapping mistakes.

Anyone who claims that they have never done that is lying.
It takes a brave soul to own up to it. So thanks for the feedback. It could help later victims of the nightmare confusion of passwords that we all have to put up with.
