Nighthawk R8000P disconnects when pc is off
Router is plugged into tower, when pc is off the usb 4 indicator light that is usually solid white turns red. This started when we recently replaced olld tower with new one. Last firmware update it stopped happening, just started happening again this week. Checked for updates, none available.

Which hole in "Router" is connected to "tower"?

"usb 4"? Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model
number, and look for Documentation. Get the Manuals. Read. Look for
the LED descriptions.

Is your "red" what Netgear calls "amber"?
On some computers/devices, an Ethernet interface will run at 100MHz
when the device is in a standby or (not-truly) "off" mode. When such a
device is awakened or powered on, it may negotiate a faster link rate.

Perhaps they behave differently. Consult the computer maker?
(Thanks for those detailed descriptions.)

Probably related to your behavior more than to the router firmware.
But, as always, actual version numbers would be more useful than your
opinion of what's "Last" today (or "available").
