ac1900 has terribly slow internet speed
I have the AC1900, my internet speed usually runs pretty fast. I have spectrum and usually get about 400 mbps. Over the last few weeks, My internet speed has been awful. I get like 15-25 mbps when I test the wifi. I already checked the speed of the modem and got 422 mbps. I tried downgrading my firmware like I have seen in so many posts, but when I download the firmware on my mac, I get a .chk file and when I try to change it on the website, it says invalid needs .img. I tried changing the name of the file to .img but still does not work. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

"AC1900" is a speed, not a model number. Look for "Model" on the
product label.
Firmware version?

"tried"? "downgrading" from what, to what?

Thanks for the helpful links.

Which "the firmware", exactly, did you download onto your Mac? What,
exactly, did you extract from whatever you downloaded?
> [...] I get a .chk file [...]
_Which_ "a .chk file? Its whole name? Copy+paste is your friend.

"change it"? What, exactly, did you do?
> Model: R7000|AC1900 Smart WIFI Router
An R7000 firmware image file is a ".chk". If your router doesn't
want a ".chk", then perhaps your router is not an R7000.

Figure out what you actually have? Reveal what you're actually
doing?

No, but, as stated, it made no sense. On the other hand, you seem to
have ignored all my questions.

I see where you wrote "R7000", but I also see where you also wrote
(the ambiguous) "AC1900", so it was not clear that you knew what you
had. It's still not. And, as I wrote:

But thanks for providing no specific answers to any of my pesky
questions.

But you didn't. With my weak psychic powers, I tend to read what I'm
given, not what I might guess that I should have been given.
The firmware image files are the firmware image files. Changing
their names is almost always a mistake. Hence my (fruitless) attempt to
get you to explain what you're actually doing. Your explanation of what
you think is the solution to your problem is of much less interest.

What is the current firmware version?
This is the latest verion of the firmware for the R7000.
R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.123 - Hot Fix | Answer | NETGEAR Support
It is a chk file. If your router says it wants an .img file, then you do not own an R7000 or even an R7000P.
Try reading the label on the thing again.
