Orbi Content Filtering Alternative
Currently have an Orbi Pro (SXR80) system in use at a small school which was being used with the Insight Content Filtering service. Now that it's been discontinued, what is a good alternate option?
It seems like you can't use this model with the regular Orbi app that includes Smart Parental Controls (which is stupid).

Re: Orbi Content Filtering Alternative
One alternative might be OpenDNS. https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/

Re: Orbi Content Filtering Alternative
Thanks! Are there any instructions on how to set this up? The OpenDNS site doesn't provide any specifics other than the DNS names.

Re: Orbi Content Filtering Alternative
Interesting that they have a list of at least 80 routers, but few from Netgear.
Using the web interface as described on page 30 of the SXR80 user manual https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/SXK80/Orbi_Pro_WiFi_6_UM_EN.pdf
Select the option on page 38 "Use These DNS Servers" and input the OpenDNS IP addresses:
- 208.67.222.123
- 208.67.220.123
Click Apply.
It might be worth spending a few minutes browsing the KnowledgeBase and the OpenDNS community forum. For example, the option to permit access to specific web resources does not appear to be included in the FREE version.

Re: Orbi Content Filtering Alternative
Another good one to check is NEXTDNS.
This actually enforces safesearch and is very similar in setup to OPENDNS in its configuration.
