CBR750 abruptly died, can't be reset
Hi,
I purchased a CBK752 (base + 1 sat) as an open box special from Amazon. I set it up (easy), fiddled with a couple of my iOS devices but everything was working great. Fast...great coverage. Then the wifi stopped...as in, the network dropped off and couldn't be revived with a reboot. I can't even reset it. I was eventually able to roll back to my old gear after some arguing with Xfinity (long story for another time)
1) Does this sound familiar at all? It is entirely possible that it was returned because it is flaky and I should just get a new unit and all will be well. OTOH...this was insanely frustrating and internet is life since I WFH. I can't have this happen again. I need something bulletproof
2) Any idea how to actually reset it or make sure it is reset? I get the amber ring light but because it still isn't broadcasting, so I can't verify my user and network data have been wiped
Finally. do you all recommend this set up?

Re: CBR750 abruptly died, can't be reset
Why can't you reset it?
did you try pushing and holding the reset button for 7-15 seconds while the device is powered on?
I'd recommend trying that with the coax disconnected from it.

Yes...disconnected, connected - all of the combos. The ring light goes to amber but it still doesn't broadcast the default SSID (or any SSID)

did you try 192.168.100.1
Try a different pc/browser?

Re: CBR750 abruptly died, can't be reset
Browser challenge - the username/password dialogue box
When I set it up, I did so using Chrome w/o incident. After it bricked, I used the same browser, also in Incog mode to no avail. It doesn't work w/ Safari either
Neither 198.168.1.1 nor 198.168.100.1 works
It is just dead, unfortunately

Re: CBR750 abruptly died, can't be reset
Try a 30/30/30 reset.
disconnect everything from it, even coax.
Then push and hold reset for 30 seconds while powered on.
Then power it off while still holding reset for 30 seconds
then power it on while still holding reset for 30 seconds.
If that doesn't work, I'd see if its still under warranty.
click on "mynetgear" at the top. register an account and the device.
From there you should be able to check warranty

Re: CBR750 abruptly died, can't be reset
I know the CAX80 has an issue where it'll boot loop if it doesn't have a signal from the isp.
Any chance your coax has issues?

Re: CBR750 abruptly died, can't be reset
If a 15 seconds press of the reset button in back of the CBR and release with the ISP coax connected and 1 wired PC connected to the CBR, if the PC doesn't get a IP address on this ethernet adapter, and you can't access the CBRs web page(192.168.100.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)...I would make contact with NG support and see what your options are. Ask about an RMA if available.
